The purpose of the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is to deliver pre-hospital and trauma care within the scope of their specific certification level. Pre-hospital and trauma care must be rendered in compliance with the established medical protocol developed and approved by the Medical Director as well as all state and federal laws.
</p><p>HANCO EMS is the primary 911 Provider for the local community and also provides a wide spectrum of medical transport services.</p><p><b>
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p><ul>
<li>
<b>Duty 1</b>: The primary duty of the Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMT) is to deliver pre-hospital and trauma care within the scope of their specific certification level. This obligation includes but is not limited to: Scene survey, Triage and assessment, Extrication, Stabilization, Treatment, Transporting, and Communication</li>
<li><b>Duty 2:</b> No employee shall recommend a specific physician/hospital. All patients will be as transported to the nearest appropriate hospital or medical facility. This may be deviated from for patient&rsquo;s personal preference taking in to consideration proximity of facilities, current resources, and severity of the situation.</li>
<li><b>Duty 3:</b> Completes all required reports in an accurate concise manner, obtaining required signatures and providing the receiving medical facility with a copy of the run report. Patient confidentiality is a high priority! Only the executive officers are permitted to release information to the news media. Discussion of runs or company business will be limited to debriefing sessions.</li>
<li><b>Duty 4:</b> Accurately records all required information into the Ohio State Reporting program.</li>
<li><b>Duty 5:</b> Restocks all supplies used on the call for service and confirm that all equipment used has been retrieved and is returned to its appropriate location.</li>
<li><b>Duty 6:</b> Sanitizes and disinfects the transport vehicle and equipment when indicated.</li>
<li><b>Duty 7:</b> Participates in all debriefing sessions.</li>
<li><b>Duty 8:</b> Keeps up with job related updates in pre-hospital procedures and regulations.</li>
<li><b>Duty 9:</b> Participates in monthly training events or CEU classes to maintain respective certification and licensure.</li>
<li><b>Duty 10:</b> Performs daily and weekly vehicle inspections and at the same time becoming knowledgeable on the placement of all equipment including equipment located on the Mobile Intensive Care unit.</li>
<li><b>Duty 11:</b> Performs daily and weekly vehicle inspections and at the same time becoming knowledgeable on the placement of all equipment including equipment located on the Mobile Intensive Care unit. Becomes proficient in the operation of all equipment carried on each response vehicle.</li>

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS</b></p><ul>
<li>
Ohio State certified Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT).</li>
<li>Any Advanced EMT level certification from another state must apply for ODPS EMT certification through the process of reciprocity. (ODPS card must be obtained prior to orientation)</li>
<li>Current Healthcare Provider Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 30 days</li>
<li>A valid driver's license is required (if you do not have a valid Ohio driver&rsquo;s license you must obtain one within 30 days of your residency in the state). You must also meet BVHS's company fleet policy, Hanco&rsquo;s insurance company requirements, and any other requirements that may be required to operate a vehicle:<ul>
<li>Drivers at least 25 years old must have no more than three moving violations or one accident and one violation within the last three years.</li>
<li>Drivers 21, 22, 23 and 24 years old can have no more than two moving violations within the last three years.</li>
<li>Drivers 18, 19 and 20 years old must have no moving violations on the driving record.</li>
<li>Drivers under 18 are not acceptable.</li>
<li>No driver may have any major convictions within the last five year period.</li>
<li>All drivers are subject to insurance company&rsquo;s prior approval.</li>

Duties and Responsibilities</p>

What You&rsquo;ll Do:<br>
<ul><li>Act as subject safety contact for all study subjects in the Clinic.</li><li>Provide basic and advanced medical care (within scope of practice), both emergent and non-emergent, to all study subjects, as appropriate.</li><li>Independently direct the resuscitation and stabilization of a subject in any life-threatening situation using both accepted medical protocols and any study</li></ul>
specific treatments.<br>
<ul><li>Monitor and record Adverse Events (AEs). Reviews of all active AEs prior to dose and determines if it is safe for subjects to proceed with study procedures and/or doing consultation with staff paramedics. If subject safety is in question, may confer with staff paramedic, operational management and/or the physician/investigator for additional instruction and/or directive. May review all active AEs for a given study and follow up with study subject(s), as necessary.</li><li>May perform technical procedures including blood collection, vital signs, and</li></ul>
ECGs.<br>
<ul><li>Assess out of range values for symptomology and may medically intervene should study subject's safety be in question.</li></ul><br>
Education and Experience:<br>
<ul><li>High / Secondary school diploma or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification</li><li>Technical positions may require a certificate</li><li>Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to at least 2 years as an Advanced EMT on an ALS unit and/or in a clinical setting). Texas Certified Advanced Paramedic .</li><li>EMT and American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required, but can be obtained on the job.</li></ul><br>
In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.<br>

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:<br>
<ul><li>Strong Advanced EMT skills in all areas including airway management, phlebotomy, I.V. establishment, and injections (subcutaneous)</li><li>Solid interpersonal skills and attention to detail</li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, management and physicians in a professional and credible manner</li><li>Ability to effectively manage multiple complex tasks</li><li>Ability to effectively manage potential emergency medical situations</li></ul><br>
Physical Requirements / Work Environment:<br>
<ul><li>Frequently stands, twists waists, squats, and bends neck for 4-6 hours per day.</li><li>Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Ability to make precise coordinated movements, of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects.</li><li>Frequent mobility required.</li><li>Occasional crouching, stooping, bending and twisting of upper body and neck.</li><li>Moderate lifting (or otherwise movement, carrying, setting, and placement)of 15-30 lbs. with a maximum lift of 35 lbs.</li><li>Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.</li><li>Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.</li><li>May interact with others, relating and gathering sensitive information.
