Responsibilities</h2>

Advanced Practice Provider (APP, APRN, PA)

The Transplant Service Line at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin (F&amp;MCW) and the MCW Division of Transplant Surgery are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to serve as the APP Manager-Transplant Surgery. This role provides clinical, operational, and strategic leadership for Advanced Practice Providers across the transplant service including Inpatient, Transplant ICU (TICU), consulting services, and ambulatory practices.
The APP Manager partners in a triad leadership model with transplant physician leadership and administrative leaders to advance clinical excellence, program growth, workforce development, and patient safety across multi-organ transplant programs including liver, kidney, and pancreas populations.
In addition to leadership responsibilities, the APP Manager maintains clinical practice within the Transplant Service Line contributing to the care of complex, high-acuity transplant patients.

Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) Manager - Transplant Surgery

The Medical College of Wisconsin&rsquo;s Department of Surgery, Division of Transplant Surgery is seeking a Nocturnist Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to provide night-time specialty care for the Transplant Surgery service. The APP will provide care for patients of the Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin (F&amp;MCW) Transplant Service Line located in Milwaukee, WI as part of a multidisciplinary team. The Advanced Practice Provider will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality, improvement, and teaching while delivering high-quality overnight coverage.<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">
Position Highlights:</h3><ul><li>
Collaborate with interdisciplinary Health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of Kidney/Pancreas and Liver Program patients as a member of the Transplant Surgery team</li><li>

The advanced practice provider provides inpatient/ outpatient management, consultations, and co-management of patients in the acute care and practice setting.</div>
Responsibilities:

Essential Functions
</div><ul><li>Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, diagnostic studies and recognizes deviations from the normal. Then develops a diagnosis and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to formulate and implements the treatment plan.
</li><li>Surgically close wounds, incision and drainage, debridement, dressing (the surgeon must remain in the immediate area).
</li><li>Scrub with collaborating surgeon in operating room.
</li><li>Performs complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as credentialed,
</li><li>Diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
</li><li>Implements appropriate management based on laboratory results, physical assessment, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, admission, and discharge care in accordance with evidence-based medicine.
</li><li>Identifies, analyzes, and resolves patient care issues to foster significant improvement in patient care and outcomes.

General Statement of Duties:
The Advanced Practice Provider provides orthopedic trauma care at St. Vincent Level 1 Trauma Center. The Advanced Practice Provider is the first call for orthopedic consults for the ER and inpatient hospital patients. Our Trauma APPs work 12 hour shifts (7a-7p) or (7p-7a). They provide 24/7/365 coverage, while supporting seven board certified orthopedic trauma surgeons. Shifts include days, overnights, weekends and holidays.
Essential Duties:
<div><ul><li>Assesses patients and assesses normal and abnormal findings obtained from history and physical examination as well as radiology and ancillary studies.
 
</li></ul><ul><li>Orders radiologic and laboratory tests and studies as necessary to complete history and physical examinations.
 
</li></ul><ul><li>Provides direct patient treatment, including but not limited to: administering nerve and hematoma blocks, reduction of fractures and dislocations, applying and removing casts and splints, joint aspirations and injections, applying and or removing traction, wound care, changing dressing and vac dressing, removing sutures and staples, cauterizations and inserting drains.
 
</li></ul><ul><li>Serves as first assistant in the operating room.
 
</li></ul><ul><li>Plans and implements care of doctor&rsquo;s patients, including; entering orders into the patient record that are verbal orders or part of standing orders or protocols approved by the supervising Physician.
 
</li></ul><ul><li>Provides patient and family instruction on the proper use and care of braces, splints, and other DME products. Helps to counsel individuals and families about their health-related issues. Communicates individualized teaching plans to patients based on their needs.
 
</li></ul><ul><li>Attends and performs rounds to assist Physician when possible.</li></ul>
