If, at the time of hire, the applicant has a Firefighter I certification, you must attain Firefighter II (FFII)Certification within 90 days of being hired or completing the required Fire Commission approved FFII live burn. If an employee must attend an approved recruit academy, they will have 120 days from the date of their FFI certification to attain their FFII certifications. The applicant will have a maximum of 3 attempts to challenge the exam for the Firefighter II certification.</li><li>
Must successfully complete an approved Smoke Diver course within the first twenty-four (24) months of employment or completion of an approved recruit course. Failure to successfully complete the Smoke Diver course within the first twenty-four (24) months of employment or after the completion of an approved recruitment course shall result in termination. The candidate will have a maximum of three attempts to complete the Smoke Diver course during the 24-month period.</li><li>
Required to maintain all emergency services related licenses and certifications obtained prior to or during employment with the Fire Rescue Department for the entire duration of employment.</li></ul><div><b>
EMS Licensure/Certification</b></div><ul><li>
Must be licensed by the State of Tennessee as an EMR, EMT, or AEMT within one (1) year of being hired. Licensure with the State of Tennessee through reciprocity must be attained within 90 days of hire. Must successfully pass EMR, EMT, and AEMT National Registry Examination within 3 test attempts. <li>Performs patient care tasks under the direction of the RN including vital signs, blood glucose testing, phlebotomy, electrode placement, venous compression devices</li>
<li>Performs basic patient care services under the direction of the RN including height &amp; actual weights, intake &amp; output, retrieval of equipment &amp; supplies, stocks patient rooms</li>
<li>Maintains a conducive environment for the patient including clutter free rooms, removing linen/trash from rooms, quiet surroundings</li>
<li>Supports patient/family communication needs including answering call lights, orienting new patients to the room, assisting with discharge appointments</li>
<li>Promotes safety including assisting with patient mobility, safety rounds/4Ps</li>
<li>Promotes comfort including providing water, ice, cups, pillows, blankets, assistance with meals</li>
<li>Transports non-monitored patients</li>
<li>Assists RN with monitored and/or intubated transports</li>
