Summary/Objective
The purpose of this position is to assist the Airport Security Coordinator in planning, organizing, and managing all aspects of airport security. This position performs a wide variety of security and/or operations duties. The position works both independently and supervised and uses considerable independent judgment in dealing with difficult situations. The incumbent receives work assignments, instructions, and evaluations by the Airport Security Coordinator.
Essential Functions
Performs security functions in the airport.<ul><li>
Answers calls and complaints involving routine contacts with airport tenants, airline operators, and the public.</li><li>
Performs daytime and nighttime safety and security inspections of the airport operations area (AOA), Security Identification Display area (SIDA), Secured Area, and Sterile area prevents public entry, and documents discrepancies. Conducts security patrols, issues security challenges, and conducts vehicle security inspections.</li><li>
Responds to Airport security emergencies.</li><li>
Teaches classes, takes fingerprints, and performs other identification duties in the course of issuing security access identification media.</li><li>
Enforces Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations and standard operating procedures related to airport security and safety.</li><li>
Communicates with tenants, operators, airlines, and other airport divisions regarding routine security matters.</li><li>
Operates computer-controlled security access system and monitors closed circuit television for violations of security and safety regulations.</li><li>
Issues timely and accurate Notice to Air Missions (NOTAMs) reflecting conditions on and around the airfield.</li><li>
Formulates and implements procedures for use in the event of airport security incidents</li><li>
Prepares a variety of documents both written and electronic reports, including security inspections, badge applications, key issuance forms, etc.</li><li>
Assists with the completion of all documentation related to the Airport Security Program (ASP) and logs all security activities on the airport.</li><li>
Performs the duties of a City Officer as set forth in Charter Ordinance No. 39 to enforce Chapter 7, &ldquo;Aviation&rdquo;, of the City Code.</li></ul>
Assists with additional support duties as required.<ul><li>
Conducts airfield inspections during inclement weather conditions.</li><li>
Coordinates snow removal activities and informs tenants and Airport users of airfield conditions.</li><li>
Performs parking lot functions, complaint resolution, custodial duties, maintenance duties, and exit lane duties in terminal sterile areas as required.</li><li>
Other duties as assigned.</li></ul>
Requirements:

Required Education and Experience<ul><li>
Valid driver&rsquo;s license.</li><li>
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.</li></ul>
Preferred Education and Experience<ul><li>
One to three (1-3) years of prior related experience and/or training.</li><li>
Prior airport security experience.</li><li>
Extensive knowledge of airport security regulations, facilities, safety, access, and security procedures.</li><li>

This is supervisory airport crash/fire/rescue work protecting life and property at the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport. Employees in this class serve as uniformed airport firefighters, responding to actual or potential air-crash emergencies, on and off the Airport, and supervise a unit of Airport Firefighters during an assigned shift.  What Will You Do<ul><li>
Conduct &ldquo;quarterly inspections of fueling facilities and/or airport refueling tankers to maintain 14 CFR Part 139 requirements.</li><li>
Respond to airport standby, fire and crash alarms and supervises and assists Firefighters at the fire scene.</li><li>
Inspect fire apparatus, equipment, station, fuel, and the surrounding grounds to ensure proper order conditions.</li><li>

<div>The City of Ottumwa is looking for our next Airport Line Technician. This is a part-time position averaging approximately 20 hours per week. 


The Line Technician is one of the first points of contact with our guests coming in and out of the Ottumwa Regional Airport, so customer service is key! The Line Technician helps with the upkeep of terminals, hangars and airport grounds, along with fueling planes as they purchase fuel. They make sure terminals are litter-free, clean, safe and organized. The lineman also maintains aircraft hangars so planes can be parked or stored over night or for longer periods of time. During inclement weather, the lineman helps maintain walkways and steps so passengers have a safe route to and from aircraft and they also help de-ice aircraft.
Education / Training
<ul><li>
High school diploma or equivalent</li><li>
Aviation background preferred</li><li>
Education in aviation maintenance technology program or aviation pilot training program preferred</li><li>
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license</li></ul>
