How You Will Make an Impact<ul><li>
Supervise and provide work direction for Airport Deputy Sheriff Security Officers. Develop and manage shift schedule. Complete employee performance evaluations, provide feedback to staff, and complete and submit employee timesheets. Assist in disciplinary proceedings. Assist in interviewing and hiring new employees. Keep supervisors and essential personnel advised of security incidents.</li><li>
Ensure compliance with laws, policy, guidelines, and procedures. Inspect employee uniforms and equipment. Ensure officers complete accurate written reports. Identify and arrange necessary training opportunities.</li><li>
Coordinate security compliance activities including access point alarm checks, alarm response, proper display of airport identification information, and random identification checks.</li><li>
Collaborate with the Sioux Falls Regional Airport, law enforcement agencies, and airport tenants and stakeholders to ensure a secure environment.</li><li>
Provide certified law enforcement protection and security for the general public by maintaining an observable and accessible presence at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport.</li><li>
Provide law enforcement support to the airlines, vendors, tenants, passengers, and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) passenger screening operations. Perform armed foot patrol inside the airport.</li><li>
Identify illegal or suspicious activities. Identify individuals loitering or observing screening checkpoint security procedures. Exercise appropriate use of force to neutralize disorderly and/or intoxicated subjects causing disturbances. Respond to incidents and emergency situations. Mediate disputes. Initiate arrests as necessary. Conduct investigations. Interview victims and witnesses. Gather evidence.</li><li>
Question and, when necessary, apprehend passengers possessing weapons or improvised explosive devices at the Screening Checkpoint.</li><li>
Verify identification of all armed law enforcement officers and Federal Flight Deck Officers who are flying in the performance of their duties.</li><li>
Respond to questions, complaints, and requests for information and/or assistance from the public.</li><li>
Complete and maintain accurate records and reports concerning crimes, incidents, information, etc. Provide testimony when required.</li></ul>
What You Need to Succeed in this Role
High school diploma or GED and one year of relevant work experience. A current South Dakota Law Enforcement Certification. Comparable combination of education and experience may be considered. Must be a minimum of age 21 at the time of hiring. Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a safe driving record with Minnehaha County. Must successfully complete pre-employment background process. Must maintain ability to be a credible witness in court. Ability to apply the policies and procedures of law enforcement operations, to make appropriate decisions quickly, and to act with tact and impartiality. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other agencies, and the public. Ability to maintain professional appearance and demeanor.

Salary: $24.00 per hour Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities: Control access of restricted areas of airport, only allowing access to authorized individuals Screen and log persons and/or vehicles accessing restricted areas Control access and conduct vehicle inspections at perimeter access points to the Airport&rsquo;s secured areas Conduct vehicle inspections at entries into non-secure areas deemed vulnerable Conduct screening of employees, vendors, visitors and belongings utilizing x-ray machines, hand wands, and/or magnetometers Access control at employee checkpoints Monitor and secure exit lanes from sterile area to public area of airport Provide escorts and security for construction of runways, taxiways and terminals/concourses Respond to incidents and emergencies Provide passenger assistance Assists in scheduling and assigning the Security Officers to ensure proper coverage and relief for the ACTS-Aviation Security Performs regularly scheduled documented audits of employee work performance according to ACTS-Aviation Security Reports all daily, weekly, monthly activities to the appropriate member of management Conducts and ensures that all training and documentation of newly hired employees are provided to the appropriate member of management Disciplines Security Officers as necessary Maintains all provisions, regulations, procedures and processes in current collective bargaining agreement Performs all other duties as assigned by ACTS-Aviation Security Position Requirements Education and Experience Must have a high school diploma or GED Must have at least two (2) years verifiable previous contract security, military or law enforcement experience Must have a valid driver's license Qualifications Must be at least 21 years of age or older. Able to provide proof of ability to work in the United States Must be able to pass a Security Threat Assessment as administered by the Transportation Security Administration; Must be able to pass a Criminal History Record Check as required by the Transportation Security Administration Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing and permit requirements for Aviation Security Officers Skills and Abilities Proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing for the purpose of public interaction and report writing. Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills required. Ability to maintain regular attendance to ensure avoidance of unpredictable, frequent and/or ongoing tardiness. Ability to handle typical and crisis situations efficiently and effectively at client site.
