Collect data and accurately document information for meaningful use including the chief complaint, current medications, allergies tobacco/smoking history and smoke exposure for all patients as reported by family; accurately obtain vital signs (TPR, BP), height, weight and head circumference; orient the family at the time of the visit to the clinic environment, paperwork, etc.
</li></ul><ul><li>Recognize abnormalities and report such to the Registered Nurse or Provider; assist in screening patients for pain using appropriate pain scale; recognize indicators of abuse and neglect and escalate positive findings to the Registered Nurse or Provider; recognize and remain with any child in distress, immediately institute Basic Life Support procedures when necessary; escalate any of the above to Registered Nurse or Provider for positive screen.
</li></ul><ul><li>Provide basic nursing care (e.g., provide nourishment, assist patient with ambulating, escort patient at time of discharge, etc.).

</b></p><p>The Patient Care Tech (PCT) functions as a member of the team to support patient care which may include the Tele-Companion, and Tele-Tech programs. They are responsible for the more complex personal patient care duties such as supporting diagnostic procedures, assisting with technical nursing treatments, patient charting, and patient instruction. All of these activities require direct work relationships with patients and participation as a member of the nursing care team in direct services to patients.</p><p></p><p>
The Tele-Companion is responsible for the safety of a patient admitted to the hospital because of physiologic, mental and/or behavioral limitations that are deemed at risk for additional self-injury.</p><p></p><p>

<p><b>JOB SUMMARY</b></p>
<p></p>
<p>The EKG Technician acquires EKG's, application of Holter monitors and operation of the EKG management system including the editing process. Follows infection control guidelines. Performs all office duties including answering the phone, completing departmental paperwork, filing, test resulting and conducting front office duties. Complies with hospital and departmental policies and procedures as well as assists with the hospital and departmental performance improvement plan. Trains new personnel.</p>
<p>
 Within 90 days of hire, the EKG tech must show competency in the following areas: performing advanced testing and patient monitoring procedures to include preparing patients for event monitoring, Holter monitoring, mobile telemetry monitoring, and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. The EKG tech will assist in routine, echo, and nuclear stress tests, monitoring the patient for blood pressure and equipment function during stress testing as well as assisting the physician during the stress test procedure. The EKG tech will have a thorough knowledge of the stress computer system as well as advanced EPIPHANY applications. The tech will have the ability to perform EPIPHANY troubleshooting procedures and to act as charge in the absence of the Lead Tech or the Director. The EKG technician will be able to scan Holter monitor tests and prepare a report for physician interpretation. Completes special assignments as required. Requires minimal supervision.</p>

<ul><li>Demonstrates competency in performing exercise, stress echo and nuclear stress testing.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Demonstrates competency in operating the Holter Monitor system, scanning Holter tests, recognizing cardiac arrhythmias and preparing physician reports.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Properly retrieves and files medical records and ensures patient confidentiality.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Demonstrates knowledge of transmitting EKG files and being able to troubleshoot the MUSE and communication modems.</li></ul>
<ul><li>12 Lead EKG: utilizes accurate lead placement, acquires artifact free tracings.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Holter, event monitor, mobile telemetry and ambulatory blood pressure hook Up: Clean tracings/readings, patient education and appropriate lead placement.</li></ul>
<ul><li>On a routine basis, edits EKG reports in the EPIPHANY system and prepares reports as required.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Demonstrates the ability to look up patient information in Powerchart for clinical purposes.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Documentation all patient information accurately in the EPIPHANY and stress systems.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Communicates with patients, families, employees and physician staff using verbal and written skills.</li></ul>
