Processes archival collections held by the Boston Public Library across all formats. Ensures that collections are arranged and described in accordance with established standards and best practices at an appropriate level of detail and effort. Works closely with appropriate staff to set accessioning, deaccessioning, and processing priorities, and tracks and reports progress. Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Arranges and describes archival collections both large and small to varying levels of detail, and assesses and determines appropriate levels of processing based on research value, condition, and other factors.</li><li>
Applies knowledge of current and emerging archival descriptive standards and systems (including DACS, EAD, and authority control standards) to the development of processing practice.
</li><li>Collaborates with Preservation and Conservation staff to determine appropriate housing of archival materials and identify and recommend materials for conservation treatment. Participates in stacks maintenance and inventory projects.</li><li>
In collaboration with Special Collections and Content Discovery staff, assists with the establishment of digitization priorities for archival materials and the design and implementation of project plans to address those priorities.</li><li>
Supports reference and research staff with inquiries regarding archival collections.</li><li>
Alternates with other staff members in supervising a public reading room in such a way as to maintain an atmosphere conducive to research while responsibly preserving and protecting materials.</li><li>
Assists with the training of staff and interns at all levels in processing methodologies and tasks.</li><li>
Participates in instructional and outreach programs and activities to promote knowledge and use of the library&rsquo;s archival collections.</li><li>
Documents activities, makes oral presentations, and prepares written progress reports regarding the status of assigned areas of responsibility.</li><li>

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:
<ul><li>Education &ndash; Bachelor&rsquo;s degree from a recognized college or university. Master&rsquo;s degree in library and information science required with formal training or professional experience in archival theory and practice. In exceptional instances, specialized education, training, and/or experience may be substituted for a part or all of the educational requirements.</li><li>
Experience &ndash; Four (4) years of professional experience in archival processing and description in a museum, library, or other similar cultural heritage institution required.</li><li>
Proven skill in arranging and describing archival collections, both large and small, to varying levels of detail, and assessing and determining appropriate levels of processing based on research value, condition, and other factors.

The Archivist will assist in the arrangement, description, preservation, and access of archival materials documenting the history of agriculture, agricultural science, and related federal programs.</p><p>
Working under the guidance of senior archivists and library leadership, the Archivist will support the processing of archival collections, creation of descriptive metadata and finding aids, digitization preparation, and reference services for researchers. The Project Archivist is dedicated to the processing, description and preservation of School records in both digital and analog form. The candidate will be expected to produce finding aids using ArchivesSpace, and should have knowledge of other access tools, the development of DACS, digitization, and related technical issues. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Archives &amp; Special Collections, the Temporary Archivist plays a dual role in digital initiatives and public engagement. This position leads the end-to-end digitization process and other digital initiatives, such as the growth of the institutional repository. As a core member of the public services team, the Archivist provides expert reference and research support to internal and external patrons across both physical and remote platforms. Furthermore, they serve as a campus liaison by collaborating on outreach activities. <b>ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES</b><br>

Provide in-person and remote reference and research services to both internal and external patrons. Log all activities in the department's interaction tracking database.<br>

<div><p>The University of Iowa Libraries seeks to hire an organized, collaborative, and intellectually curious archivist to serve as Collections Archivist at the Iowa Women&rsquo;s Archives. Under the general direction of the Associate Curator of the Iowa Women&rsquo;s Archives (IWA), the Collections Archivist will plan and carry out accessioning, processing, and collections management of archival collections representing a wide variety of physical and digital formats within the Iowa Women&rsquo;s Archives. They will collaborate with curators and fellow archivists in identifying processing priorities and implementing accessioning and processing workflows, delegating tasks to student employees as applicable. The Collections Archivist will contribute to effective collections management by collaborating with staff in areas of digital preservation, cataloging and metadata, and conservation. They will work in tandem within and outside of the Special Collections &amp; Archives department toward larger project goals such as the establishment of born digital workflows and policies and will also assist with reference, instruction, and outreach activities within the IWA.</p><p><b>
