As a skilled practitioner of bibliographic description and metadata management, this role is responsible for creating original and complex catalog records for library materials in all formats. This position will serve a critical role in implementing bibliographic metadata practices and policies, collaborating closely with colleagues to evaluate and document policies, procedures and workflows for traditional cataloging, and bibliographic database maintenance. This position plays a critical role in metadata clean-up efforts in anticipation for the migration to and implementation of a new Integrated Library System. This position requires a deep knowledge of bibliographic data and cataloging best practices as well as a thorough understanding of how the catalog impacts resource discoverability.<br>
</div><div>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS<br>
</div><ul><li>Create metadata for a diverse range of materials, including original cataloging for Artists&rsquo; Books and other Special Collections materials, and oversee quality control for previously cataloged content</li>
<li>Resolve complex metadata and bibliographic record problems</li>
<li>Design, oversee, and participate in bibliographic database cleanup, metadata mapping, and other enrichment projects</li>
<li>Contribute to the transition to a new Integrated Library System (ILS), including collaborative leadership in testing and configuring cataloging environments and workflows, ensuring excellent training is provided to library staff as needed, and managing related projects</li>

<br>The Librarian focuses on system initiatives and committee work, information services, collection maintenance, program and service creation, system level support for smaller community libraries and community engagement -- making connections, developing relationships and providing services, spaces, and resources that are representative of diverse cultures and perspectives, intentionally inclusive, and accessible to everyone while supporting community organizations and promoting the library.
<br>The Lake Stevens Library is a medium-sized library centrally located within the East District of Sno-Isle Libraries' service area. The City of Lake Stevens is a rapidly growing and diverse community that surrounds the largest natural lake in Snohomish County. The Lake Stevens Library provides programming, collections, and services that largely focus on early learning, children, and families. A new Lake Stevens library is under construction and is anticipated to open later this year. <br>Knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position can be acquired by a combination of experience and education including:
<br>1. Master's degree in library science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited university required, or completion of the degree within six months of hire.
<br>2. Provide a Washington State Librarian certificate within 60 days of hire or degree completion.

Our team has an immediate need for an experienced Data Hunter/Librarian to join our team at a customer-site in Mclean, VA to support the collection and management of structured data sets available to the customer. This includes data discovery, clean up, ingestion, handling updates and cataloging using current metadata standards.</p><p></p><p><b>
Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li>
Search for data and supporting documentation that can be utilized in the customer&rsquo;s various applications.</li><li>
Flush out metadata information to keep catalog system to ensure entries are accurate and up to date.</li><li>
Perform duties associated with data cataloging.</li><li>
Build partnerships across the customer&rsquo;s organization to determine which datasets should be collected, stored and made available.</li><li>
Serve as a Data Transfer Officer moving data from the open internet to customer systems.</li><li>
Perform any needed data clean up, and reformatting of datasets for inclusion in customer&rsquo;s applications.</li><li>
Monitor storage space allocations to inform customer when available space has reached specific thresholds.</li><li>
Monitor the effectiveness of AI queries to data holdings to determine if such queries are accurate and valid.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>
