JOB OBJECTIVE: The Sr Research Scientist 1 will provide scientific leadership in the design, transfer and optimization of cell-based screening assays, with a focus on cell-based target engagement and thermal shift&ndash;style platforms. The role is responsible for moving assays from early development into robust, automated workflows and implementing them in client-focused screening projects. The scientist will leverage automation to increase throughput and reproducibility, lead data interpretation, and partner closely with R&amp;D and TRS program management to ensure smooth technology transfer and delivery. The role also includes mentoring junior scientists and managing timelines across multiple parallel projects.</div><div></div><div> 
CORE DUTIES:</div><div> 
1. Develop, validate and execute cell-based assays for screening customer-provided compounds across a range of biological targets, including kinase, TPD and biologics-relevant targets.</div><div> 
2. Lead the development, validation and implementation of new and emerging cell-based screening technologies and target engagement assay platforms (including proprietary platforms developed within Promega) for hit finding against client targets and libraries.</div><div> 
3. Optimize and implement automation platforms for performing cell-based assay screens (including target engagement and follow-up assays), ensuring efficiency, reproducibility and scalability for small and large library campaigns. Leverage artificial intelligence and advanced digital tools to accelerate assay development, optimize automation workflows, enhance data analysis, and improve scientific and operational efficiency across screening programs. Partner closely with R&amp;D to transfer new assays and technologies into TRS Screening Services, including cell-based target engagement workflows (e.g., NanoBRET TE, thermal shift&ndash;style assays), TPD and PPI assays, ensuring smooth transition and scalability from feasibility studies to routine service offerings.</div><div> 
6. Mentor and guide team members (including Research Scientist and Research Scientist II roles) in cell-based assay development, screening techniques, automation best practices and data interpretation.</div><div> 
7. Plan, manage and troubleshoot assay projects to ensure successful execution, data quality and adherence to agreed timelines and deliverables.</div><div> 
8. Apply expertise in cell-based screening to refine methodologies, improve assay robustness and support the integration of new readouts or formats as needed for client programs.</div><div> 
9. Assess and enhance existing and novel assay technologies for seamless integration with automation platforms and data systems, with attention to efficiency, scalability and data quality.</div><div> 
10. Perform hands-on bench work as needed to support assay development, optimization, troubleshooting and critical experimental runs.</div><div> 
11. Ensure compliance with ethical, legal and regulatory standards relevant to cell-based research and client-specific requirements.</div><div>

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:</div><div></div><div> 
1. BS degree in a scientific discipline with 12+ years post-graduate experience in cell-based assay development.</div><div></div><div>

2. MS degree in a scientific discipline with 6+ years post-graduate experience in cell-based assay development.</div><div></div><div>

POSITION SUMMARY

POSITION SUMMARY 
Research Associate I/ II works under direct supervision to assist and support the designing, optimization and validation of new immunoassays on the Genalyte Merlin(&trade;) platform. In this role, you&rsquo;ll be responsible for verification and validation testing of new products and changes to released products. The Assay V&amp;V RA contributes to verification and validation (V&amp;V) activities for multiple systems comprising assays, reagents, consumables, instruments, and software. The role requires a strong detail-focused skill set to execute tests of products exiting development and to further support and improve products within manufacturing. This posting is intended to fill two open positions. 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES
These may include but are not limited to:<ul><li>
Follows established procedures to assist in design analysis on components and/or assemblies to assist in the development process of quantitative immunoassays for submission to the FDA for 510(k) clearance assessing the product under design control process from concept to product launch</li><li>
Works under the guidance of a supervisor or senior team member and follows provided instructions to manage laboratory equipment and coordinate test station setups in support of product development, in accordance with established procedures.</li><li>
Analyze data for assay and process improvement and report findings to team and senior leadership</li><li>
Executes experiments and validation protocols, supports problem-solving and trouble-shooting activities with guidance from Team Lead &amp; Manager</li><li>
Meet milestones for product development timelines</li><li>
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with other chemists, data scientists, engineers and manufacturing personnel</li><li>
Maintain compliance with all company policies, quality systems, design control and procedures</li><li>
Document results, protocols, SOPs, etc</li><li>

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES<ul><li>
A Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Biology, chemistry, biochemistry or similar with 2+ years of experience in Assay Development</li><li>
Experience with design control, complex systems and assays</li><li>
Experience in GDP/GMP/GLP</li><li>
Experience with team direction and mentorship</li><li>
Experience with FDA and 510(k) submission process preferred</li><li>
Standard assay laboratory equipment (pipets, microscales, vortexers, centrifuges, etc.)</li><li>
