The Position

Duties &amp; Responsibilities

Mechanical Assembly Technician I, II and III:

<li>Assembles components for aviation and ground vehicle fuel systems.</li>
<li>Reads and understands mechanical assembly drawings, work orders, work instructions and manufacturing orders.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Initiates Non-Conformance Report requests for drawings, shop orders, work instructions and manufacturing orders.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Disassembles and cleans components for aviation and ground vehicle systems</li>
<li>Tests and troubleshoots sub-systems and complete assemblies.</li>
<li>Operates a broad variety of equipment and hand/power tools in a safe and efficient manner.</li>
<li>Packages/Crates components and fuel systems using proper packing procedures and prepares packages/crates for shipping.</li>
<li>Interacts with Quality and Supply Chain as required.</li>

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to walk, sit, stand, squat, bend and kneel. The incumbent is occasionally required to climb. The incumbent must regularly lift or carry a maximum of 75 pounds; as well as push or pull a maximum of 200 pounds. The incumbent will regularly use hand tools including but not limited to wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, spray guns, brushers, rollers, rulers, and calipers. Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly exposed to mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to dirty working conditions, heat or cold ranging between 40 and 100 degrees ambient conditions, minimal exposure to vapors or fumes, and dust shavings. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The incumbent is required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including Nitrile or Chloroprene gloves, dust mask, safety glasses, protective clothing, goggles, and work gloves.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Travel to customer&rsquo;s site with required up to 60-90% travel in addition to accommodating short notice travel requirements; travel within 24 hours&rsquo; notice when needed. Remain on site as assigned until agreement with management or accommodation can be made. Determine the methods, techniques, sequences and tooling for assembling rotating and stationary elements of components, leveling assembly stands and bases and fitting and scraping bearings, bores, seals and liners to precise dimensions on fielded marine machinery. Prepare tooling for deployment to field. Evaluate the condition of returned tooling and initiate actions for repair or replacement. Able to work effectively with customers and subcontractor workforce. Work in the position in accordance to the Position Duration Requirements as stated below.
POSITION DURATION REQUIREMENTS:
The two (2) year term duration starts from the date employee is on-boarded to team. If you are on a Field Assignment when the term ends, you will be required to complete the current assignment or continue until accommodations can be made to backfill you on the assignment.
At the end of the duration, the employee shall transfer back to their former job code at the Sunnyvale Facility, not necessarily the area/department/section they came from. WORKING PROCEDURE:
Perform the duties of Assembly Mechanic &ldquo;B&rdquo; and in addition perform the following:
1. Receive work assignment from supervision.
2. Read, understand and follow safety regulations and procedures. Perform to work scope which may include drawings, change notices, operation sheets, specifications, manufacturing instructions and work authorizations.
3. Determine from general information, the methods, sequences, techniques and tooling necessary to perform a variety of precision assembly, measurement, alignment, fitting operations and scraping procedures on turbine, gear, and turbine generator products.
4. Install alignment tooling in turbine and radially align blade rings, glands, seals, etc. by positioning and measuring to determine the amount of material to be removed from pins, blocks and supports.
5. Assemble various components, subassemblies and major assemblies where parts require fitting, scraping, lapping, shimming and aligning to precise dimensions. Improvises production aids to assist in assembly.
6. Assemble and align axially and radially components of complete assemblies such as TG sets and blowers, by shimming and blocking to accurately join rotating elements.
7. Handle/Assemble NG Turbine Generator Bearings and components in close quarter work environments while following material protection practices.
8. Check work for conformance to specifications and measure and record clearances, fits, parallelism, angles, flatness and levelness to exacting tolerances.
9. Effectively communicate pertinent job information to employees assigned to the same machines/tasks on following shifts.
10. Make proper time charge entries and record data as required.
11. Perform other work of equal or lower classification as required.
12. Comply with all applicable shipyard rules and regulations as outlined by individual shipyards during visitor safety briefings.
13. Prepare tooling for deployment to and return from the field jobs.
14. Maintain LX training while on field assignment during job down time.
15. Evaluate the condition of returned tools and initiate actions for repair or replacement.
16. Assist in maintaining an inventory of tools to support ongoing work.
17. Book travel and prepare/submit expense reports in accordance with company travel policies.
18. Remove, Modify, Install and stake balance weights in Turbine and Turbine Generator while in the Field as required.

A shop hourly position with the primary responsibilities of partnering with Team Leaders as well members of the Assembly and Quality Teams to ensure BAC product quality standards are met or exceeded on every product. This is accomplished through collaborative communication with operational teams when conducting test and audit activities during manufacturing processes, and a bias toward action in implementing sustainable corrective actions and continuous improvements. The Quality Technician is the primary owner of the Quality metric, taking action to address trends, and conducting root cause analysis to identify the cause including environmental or human factors contributing to errors. As a senior mechanic, the Quality Technician is an influencer, who provides qualitative feedback and quantitative data to his/her internal customers enabling them to make real time process improvements toward the goal of 100% FPY. WORKING CONDITIONS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Standing is to be expected up to 80% of the time. Additional activities include: walking, reaching, bending, stooping, and sitting. Fine hand manipulation of controls is needed as well as hand eye coordination to perform changes. Working hours can include any of three shifts and generally are scheduled for forty hours a week. Some weekend overtime is to be expected. Working temperatures include both wide fluctuations within the plant as well as ambient outside temperatures.

 Key Responsibilities:

 Component Preparation: Gathering all the necessary parts, components, and materials required for the sub-assembly/assembly process. This may include selecting the correct parts, inspecting them for defects, and organizing them for assembly.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assembly Process: Following detailed instructions, blueprints, or diagrams to property sub-assembly/assembly the components into the designed assembly process. This may include use of various power and hand tools, equipment, and techniques to ensure a quality product.
 </li>
 <li>
 Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality control teams to address any discrepancies or quality concerns. Communicate findings effectively and assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
 </li>
 <li>
 Testing: Conduct functional tests on products to verify that they perform as intended. Utilize testing equipment and follow testing procedures to validate product functionality and adherence to specifications.
 </li>
 <li>
 Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspection and testing results. Complete necessary paperwork or digital documentation to record outcomes and maintain traceability.
 </li>
 <li>
 Teamwork/Cooperation: Collaborating with other team members, including managers, supervisors, engineers, quality personnel and peers to troubleshoot problems, suggest improvements and contribute to the overall material process flow. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding work progress and any issues encountered.
 </li>
 <li>
 Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
 </li>
 <li>
 Problem Solving: Identifying and troubleshooting issues that may arise. Being able to think critically and find solutions is crucial in maintaining smooth production flow.
 </li>

 Physical Requirements:
 
 
 
 Shop environment may have exposure to oil, fumes, moderate noise levels and metal particles. Safety shoes and safety glasses are required. Face masks, shields and earplugs when required.

 Standing and Walking: The capacity to stand and walk for a minimum of eight (8) hours throughout the workday, as assembling tasks often involve moving between workstations or assembly lines.

 Physical Flexibility: Flexibility to assume various positions, such as bending, kneeling, or crouching, when necessary for accessing and assembling components in tight spaces or awkward angles.

 Dexterity and Hand-eye Coordination: Good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills to manipulate small parts, use hand tools, perform intricate assembly tasks, and follow assembly sequences accurately.

 Repetitive Motions: The capability to perform repetitive motions, such as grasping, twisting, and operating hand tools or machinery, as these actions are integral to the assembly process.

 Preferred Qualifications:

 High School Diploma, GED (or equivalent)
 </li>

 2+ years of manufacturing experience (preferred)
 </li>
 <li>
 Understands hydraulics, process sheets and blueprints
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to use hand tools and torque equipment
 </li>
 <li>
 Requires forklift truck operation certification and other material handling equipment as needed
 </li>
 <li>
 Advanced understanding of Statistical Process Controls (SPC) tools
 </li>
 <li>
 Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team
 </li>
 <li>
 Dependable, exhibits initiative, accountability and maximizes use of time
 </li>
 <li>
 Mathematical and record keeping skills. Ability to follow written procedures and specifications.
 </li>
 <li>
 Basic PC/laptop experience helpful; MS Office use preferred
