The Assistant Director of Facilities administers and assist Director of Facilities in directing programs which ensure that all Park facilities are structurally sound, operationally efficient, well-maintained, and safe. This position assists with the development of long-range plans for upgrading or replacing electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, upgrading or replacing utility infrastructure, repairing or replacing building roofs, maintaining the building exterior envelope, and maintaining or replacing interior finishes. The Assistant Director of Facilities Management establishes priorities for scheduled maintenance services and operations, administers preventive maintenance programs for all facilities, and supervises the performance of emergency and routine maintenance on Commission facilities.</div><div></div><div><b><br>
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b> include the following. Other duties may be assigned.</div><div></div><div><br>

Assists with the establishment of the maintenance budget for Oglebay and Wheeling Park</li><li>
 Experience with electronic control systems, electronic door systems, HVAC BAS etc.</li><li>
Knowledge in electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, roof, HVAC, pool maintenance, commercial/residential kitchen &amp; laundry equipment/appliances and lock repair</li><li>
Extensive knowledge in building techniques and materials</li><li>
Ability to operate manual and power tools; knowledge of maintenance and proper storage of tools</li><li>
Is familiar with and can create and facilitate Energy Conservation Programs</li><li>

Source appropriate vendors, negotiate best rates, place Purchase Orders and authorize payment for all maintenance purchases</li><li>

Ensure all local and state, and federal regulations are adhered to as far as Fire &amp; Life Safety issues are concerned, i.e. certification and inspections</li><li>
Familiarity with construction and public access requirements concerning the disabled is preferred</li><li>
Ensure monthly departmental Safety Inspection is conducted in each area of the hotel and cottages</li><li>
Computer literacy is required; familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Computer Management Systems (CMMS), Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, and ADP is preferred</li><li>

Working closely with the Executive Director, the Assistant Director helps design and enhance mentoring strategies that advance institutional priorities in community engagement, experiential learning, student success, and Presidential Mentoring initiatives.</div><div></div><div>
Summary of Responsibilities:</div><div></div><div><div>
Program Leadership &amp; Development</div><ul><li><div>
Support and design mentoring events aligned with FAU&rsquo;s mission and the State University System of Florida&rsquo;s 2030 strategic plan.</div></li><li><div>
Contribute to comprehensive, intergenerational mentoring models that promote community engagement and participant enrichment.</div></li><li><div>
Assist in developing program goals, frameworks, and outcome measures tied to Performance-Based Funding metrics and student success.</div></li><li><div>
Support first- and second‑year mentoring for first‑generation students, focusing on retention, persistence, transfer success, and campus engagement.</div></li><li><div>
Support career-focused mentoring for third- and fourth‑year students, emphasizing internships, career connections, employment outcomes, and salary goals.</div></li><li><div>
Identify opportunities to expand mentoring participation across FAU and within the community, including students, alumni, community partners, and lifelong learners.</div></li></ul><div>
Mentor Recruitment, Training &amp; Support</div><ul><li><div>
Manage a diverse mentor pipeline, including OLLI participants, alumni, faculty, staff, students, and volunteers.</div></li><li><div>
Develop and maintain program policies, procedures, and training materials.</div></li><li><div>
Implement best practices in volunteer engagement, mentor‑mentee matching, and relationship management. Host orientations and training sessions for mentors and mentees.</div></li></ul><div>
Program Coordination</div><ul><li><div>
Oversee day‑to‑day operations of mentoring programs in alignment with institutional policies and OLLI standards.</div></li><li><div>
Supervise interns, graduate assistants, and student employees.</div></li><li><div>
Assist with managing program budgets, timelines, and deliverables.</div></li><li><div>
Administer assessments to evaluate program effectiveness and guide continuous improvement.</div></li></ul><div>
Outreach, Partnerships &amp; Communications</div><ul><li><div>
Grow visibility of mentoring programs through outreach, tabling, and digital engagement including but not limited to social media outreach, website updates, and marketing efforts.</div></li><li><div>
Build and maintain partnerships across FAU&rsquo;s campuses (Jupiter, Boca Raton, Davie).</div></li><li><div>
Create communications, reports, and presentations that highlight program outcomes and support strategic goals.</div></li><li><div>

Minimum Qualifications:</div>
Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two (2) years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four (4) years of appropriate experience required.<br>

Experience working in higher education, particularly with community engagement or lifelong learning units.<br>
