Marion County is a qualifying public employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, full-time employees working at the County may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Student Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. In furtherance of this mission, the BXDA seeks an experienced and enthusiastic Chief of Public Information Officer / Communications. The Chief of Public Information Officer / Communication should have strong knowledge of New York City, the Bronx, the Criminal Justice System, police issues and crime as well as experience as a journalist covering these subjects. The Chief of Public Information Officer / Communications will use their knowledge and experience to handle media requests and disseminate news of the Bronx District Attorney&rsquo;s Office to the media and the public as well as handling internal communications for the Office.<br>

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:<br>
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to the following:<br>

<ul><li>Oversee staff who are tasked with handling media inquiries, arrange interviews, organize press conferences, draft press releases, external newsletters, and internal communications such as memos, newsletters.</li><li>Prepare speeches, testimony, and PowerPoint presentations for the District Attorney.</li><li>Accompany the District Attorney to events, meetings, and external press conferences.</li><li>Advise the District Attorney on communication matters.</li><li>Responsible for overseeing the strategy for communication with the public, the press and other organizations.</li><li>Ensure consistent clear, concise messaging across all modes of communication.</li><li>Respond to inquiries from reporters, press, and the BXDA public website.</li><li>Serve as the Office point of contact and spokesperson for the District Attorney.</li><li>Manage the day-to-day operations of the Communications/Public Information Unit.</li><li>Mentor and supervise staff.</li></ul><br>

<b>The Day-To-Day</b><div><br>
On any given day, you will:</div><ul><li>
Draft, input, revise and finalize routine correspondence, memoranda and other legal documents.</li><li>
Proofread documents and check for appropriate formatting, spelling, grammar and context.</li><li>
Verify all attachments, exhibits and enclosures are included with transmittal letters/memos.</li><li>
Complete client/matter forms, request conflicts of interest checks, open new files and maintain all client and general files.</li><li>
Manage multiple partner level attorneys and associates. Maintain and support complex partner level and attorney and team calendars and schedules. Coordinate and manage depositions, mediations, client meetings, team meeting schedules and calls.</li><li>
Maintain client contact information.</li><li>
Maintain electronic client and general files. Review incoming mail, ensure client documents and emails are properly uploaded and filed to the DMS system, Kiteworks, Seyfarth Link, etc.</li><li>
Prepare documents and packages for mail, messenger, and overnight delivery</li><li>
Enter attorney time and send time entry reminders</li><li>
Coordinate and follow through on requests and projects with other support departments (e.g. word processing, receptionists, assist with client billing, records clerks, office services, conflicts department, finance, etc.)</li><li>
Prepare and process expense reports, and vendor invoices in Chrome River.</li><li>
Schedule attorney appointments/client meetings, prepare agendas, coordinate conferences and travel arrangements.</li><li>

A minimum of 5 years of legal assistant experience.</li><li>
Strong proofreading skills, attention to detail and solid grammar/spelling skills.</li><li>
