 We are seeking a highly skilled Assistant Editor to join our team at Free Press Journal&rsquo;s print edition. As an Assistant Editor, you will be responsible for selecting and editing content for accuracy, grammar, style, and consistency. You will also be responsible for managing a team of sub editors and ensuring that all content is delivered on time and meets the highest standards of quality.
 
 
 
 
 
 Responsibilities:

 Select and edit and articles, features, and other content with accuracy, grammar, style, and consistency.

 Ensure that all content meets the highest standards of quality and is delivered on time

 Manage a team of sub editors and provide guidance and feedback as needed.

 <li>
 Collaborate with writers, designers, and other team members to ensure that all content is aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
 </li>
 <li>
 Develop and maintain style guidelines and ensure that all content adheres to them
 </li>
 <li>
 Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to ensure that the company's content remains relevant and engaging.
 </li>
 <li>
 Familiarity with Quark Express and Page making is a must.
 </li>

 Requirements:

 Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, or a related field.
 </li>
 <li>
 10+ years of experience in sub editing, from the publishing industry.
 </li>
 <li>
 Excellent editing and page making skills.
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency throughout content.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to manage a team and provide guidance and feedback.
 </li>
 <li>
 Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong understanding of style guidelines and ability to develop and maintain them.

 The Assistant Foreign Editor supports the Foreign Editor and Deputy Foreign Editor in managing The National&rsquo;s international news coverage across all platforms. This role focuses on day-to-day editorial coordination, copy editing, and digital publishing, ensuring that stories meet the highest editorial standards. The Assistant Foreign Editor helps manage correspondents, oversees content preparation, and provides essential operational support, stepping in to maintain workflow continuity when senior editors are absent.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 Main Duties:

 Assist the Foreign Editor and Deputy Foreign Editor in coordinating the team responsible for international news coverage.
 </li>

 Monitor wires, press releases, global outlets, and reporters&rsquo; submissions to prepare daily news lists for editorial meetings.

 Support the commissioning of assignments for reporters and correspondents, ensuring timely and well-planned coverage.

 Edit copy for accuracy, clarity, and consistency, working closely with reporters to strengthen stories.

 Package content for online publication, applying SEO best practices with effective headlines, keywords, links, multimedia, and geo-data.

 Upload and publish stories across digital platforms.
