<div><p>The Chin lab in the Department of Biochemistry &amp; Cellular and Molecular Biology at UTK is seeking a highly motivated full-time postdoctoral researcher to join our team. Our work focuses on how the actin cytoskeleton regulate mechanical signaling to orchestrate root growth and development using a combination of molecular biology, genetics and microscopy in plant models such as <i>Arabidopsis thaliana </i>and <i>Medicago truncatula </i>.
</p><p>The initial appointment period will be one year with potential for renewal contingent upon successful performance and funding.</p></div>
<br><div><p>This postdoctoral position is expected to work on a project on understanding actin organization that drives anisotropic cell growth in roots. This project involves mutational analyses including identifying, generating and characterizing mutations affecting pathways in actin regulation, the generation and the testing of genetically encoded markers to determine protein function, complemented by protein biochemical analysis.</p></div>

</b></p><ul><li><p>Education: Ph.D. by summer 2026 in molecular biology, cell biology, biotechnology, genetics, plant biology, biochemistry or related field, with official transcript provided as verification.

 The Blanchard Laboratory at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking passionate and highly motivated individuals to join our team working on a funded NASA-supported research program investigating how spaceflight and environmental stressors influence the human brain and neurodegenerative disease risk. Researchers will work closely with members of the laboratory to engineer iPSC-derived vascular and multicellular 3D models of the human brain and apply these platforms to study mechanisms underlying Alzheimer&rsquo;s disease and related neurodegenerative disorders. These models are also being adapted for spaceflight experiments on the International Space Station, providing a unique opportunity to participate in cutting-edge work at the intersection of stem cell biology, neuroscience, and space medicine. The successful candidate will contribute to the generation and characterization of human stem cell&ndash;derived brain models and will assist with experimental workflows supporting both ground-based and spaceflight studies.

A candidate hired at the rank of Associate or Professor may also be appointed as the Scholl Endowed Chair. Appointment as the Scholl Endowed Chair carries an academic year stipend ranging from $40,000 - $75,000 for each year the incumbent serves as the endowed chair. The length of term is five years, and upon expiration of the first term, a review will follow, where it may be renew for another three years. There is no limit on the total number of renewal periods an incumbent may seek. In addition, the holder of the endowed chair would receive four course releases per year while serving as the endowed chair. Should an incumbent cease to serve as the endowed chair, by election or administrative decision, the teaching load would recalibrate to the College&rsquo;s research productivity level.</p><p><br>
Assistant level hires will not be considered for the endowed chair.</p><p><br>
