The Aviation Teacher will be the primary teacher for students to receive FAA certified level training provided they successfully complete the program. The teacher accomplishes this by providing students with a program of study that teaches required program skills, develops employability skills, and reinforces academic skills through use of rigorous curricula.</p><p></p><p><b><i><br>

Participate in demonstrations, extra-curricular activities, community awareness/education programs, parades, recruiting events and other activities to further the program and school</li><li>
Attend conferences, workshops, training programs to maintain currency/certifications</li><li>
Supervises all students assigned in instructional activitie</li><li>
Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated</li><li>
Plans and develops curricula with CTE curricula coordinator to meet competency requirements for the occupational/academic areas</li><li>
Develops and adapts instructional materials and experiences to meet individual student needs, aptitudes and interests</li><li>
Assesses and records student accomplishments on a regular basis through an approved grading system</li><li>
Maintains accurate attendance records on students and follows school procedures for reporting student attendance</li><li>
Teaches and enforces safety policies and practices required by federal and state laws, the school district and the department</li><li>
Develops and implements a variety of teaching strategies</li><li>
Establishes and maintains an effective climate for learning</li><li>
Plans and conducts appropriate educational field experiences</li><li>

Teach undergraduate aviation<b> </b>courses, in online, in-person, or hybrid delivery system including some required in-person office hours; supervise students&rsquo; participation in partner flight courses, and completion of FAA requirements; teach essential theoretical knowledge for aviation, covering aerodynamics, aviation safety, aviation weather, and other ground-based instruction; participate in undergraduate curriculum development related to aviation; participate in admissions board decisions for aviation; serve on aviation scholarship committees; assist with B.A.A.S. degree coordinator activities for Aviation Science majors.

<li>Private pilot license (PPL) or Commercial pilot license (CPL).</li>
<li>Minimum of a Certified ground instructor (CGI) or Certified flight instructor (CFI) license, or military equivalent.</li>
<li>Instrument rating or Certified flight instructor with Instrument rating (CFII), or military equivalent.</li>
<li>At least two years of flight experience or 100 hours of private flight time.</li>
<li>Experience teaching online, asynchronous, or synchronous courses.</li>

</b></p><p>As a Flight Ops Ground Instructor, you will enable our Crewmembers to safely deliver the experience of <i>Flying That Moves Your Soul</i> to our Customers. You will do this through the creation, development, and execution of industry-leading training programs.</p>

A Day in the Life:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Facilitate Initial, Upgrade, Transition, and Recurrent training for Crewmembers using online and classroom curricula developed, implemented, and delivered by Ground Instructors.</li>
<li>Ensure all training is accurately recorded and certified in compliance with regulatory requirements.</li>
<li>Advise and assist the Manager of Training on all aspects of the JSX Pilot and Flight Attendant Training Program.</li>
<li>Maintain and revise the Pilot Training Manual as needed to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.</li>
<li>Advise on the most cost-efficient methods of administering state-of-the-art training programs, while continuously identifying opportunities to improve cost efficiency.</li>
<li>Provide support to other members of the JSX training team responsible for employee training outside of pilot and flight attendant programs.</li>
<li>Perform additional duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned.</li>

This position requires the ability to maintain FAA Flight Instructor certification. Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements of 14 CFR Part 61, including those related to 14 CFR 61.15 (Offenses involving alcohol or drugs).</div><div></div><div><br>
The Aviation Technology program at USU includes Bachelor of Science degrees in Professional Pilot and Maintenance Management. The Aviation Technology program prides itself in applying cutting-edge technology with exceptional training to produce the best quality of pilots and technicians the industry needs. Professional Pilot graduates receive all Federal Aviation Administration certifications and are trained to be commercial pilots. Students are trained in Diamond Aircraft with glass cockpits and the latest instrument and navigation technology. USU's Regional Jet Flight Simulator gives students hands-on experience in flying a commercial airliner. USU also offers a nine-week private pilot summer program for those who seek to jump-start their career goal before the semester starts. Students in the Aviation Technology &ndash; Maintenance Management major will complete the courses required for the FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&amp;P) licenses. They will also have coursework in aviation law, human factors in aviation safety, and management. Management and communications courses are incorporated into the program to provide essential business skills. Employment opportunities for graduates in Maintenance Management include positions with major airlines as maintenance technicians, maintenance supervisors, fixed-base operators, maintenance directors, repair station managers, FAA inspectors, aircraft and component manufacturers, and aerospace manufacturers. Degree completion in this program prepares graduates for all FAA required licensing evaluations.</div>
