Job Description:</h1>
TSTC faculty deliver approved curriculum, content, and assessments in an applied learning environment. Responsibilities include facilitation of activities and discussions that engage a range of learning styles with targeted guidance and mentorship to students.
 
 
Faculty will also interpret and administer assessments, and offer constructive feedback to support student growth and learning outcomes. A key part of the role is to integrate technology effectively to enrich the educational experiences.
 
 
Faculty act as ambassadors for their programs and TSTC. 
 
The median salary range for this position is $90,298 for fully qualified and candidates meeting all credentialing requirements. Additionally, this position is eligible for semester retention bonuses (potential of $2k per semester) and full state benefits.
Faculty will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students and members of the community. 
 
INSTRUCTIONAL DELIVERY:
 
Prepare and deliver high quality instruction and facilitate the learning of students. Develop appropriate course syllabi and instructional plans, and organize daily classes utilizing a variety of creative/innovative techniques. 
 
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT: 
Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, equipment security where applicable, and ensure opportunities for student/participant evaluation. 
 
STUDENT RETENTION AND PLACEMENT:
 
Performs student advisement such that students are provided with timely, accurate, and comprehensive information. Collaborate with the Office of Student Success to ensure students receive current information on tutoring and other programs designed to increase retention. 
 
PROGRAM RECRUITMENT &amp; PROMOTION:
 
Participate in related tours and recruitment events. Assist in department/program planning for recruitment. 
 
TEAMWORK &amp; SERVICE: 
Demonstrates a willingness to be of service and exhibits pleasant and courteous behavior toward customers (students, parents, employers, and media), organizational coworkers, and other general public contacts. Maintains flexibility, including availability for evening, weekend, or summer assignment, as appropriate; able to work effectively in a team environment; commitment to the mission, vision and values of the college.

Required Skills, knowledge, and certifications or licenses 
 
<ul><li>Either FAA Airframe and Powerplant licenses, or substantial relevant aircraft maintenance experience (military included).</li><li>Be able to develop in-class and online presentations related to aircraft airframes and powerplants</li><li>Be able to develop learning outcomes, hands-on projects, and mastery assessments related to aircraft airframes and powerplants</li><li>2+ years' experience maintaining aerospace vehicles</li><li>Demonstrated competency in airframe theory, and maintenance of structures and a variety of airframe systems such as electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, oxygen, heating, cooling, etc.</li><li>Demonstrated competency in powerplant theory, and maintenance of APUs, engines, and their systems, such as reciprocating and turbine engines, fire detection and warning, propellers, fuel systems, electrical systems, etc.</li></ul> 

Preferred Skills, knowledge, and certifications or licenses 
 
<ul><li>FAA Inspection Authorization; 121 or 145 inspection experience, or similar.</li><li>5+ years&rsquo; experience maintaining FAA-certificated aircraft.</li><li>1+ years' experience in developing in-class and online presentations related to aircraft airframes and powerplants.</li><li>1+ years' experience developing learning outcomes, hands-on projects, and mastery assessments related to aircraft airframes and powerplants</li></ul>

Rochester Community and Technical College is seeking an Adjunct Aviation Instructor to teach in the Aviation Pilot program for the Fall 26' semester. This position may include instruction in ground school and other aviation-related coursework.
The Adjunct Aviation Instructor will provide instruction in Aviation Pilot program courses. Teaching assignments may include topics such as Private Pilot, Instrument, Commercial, and CFI ground school courses, as well as Advanced Aircraft Systems or Aviation Human Factors. The successful candidate will demonstrate competency in aviation instruction and a strong commitment to student learning.
Start date for this position is 8/24/2026.

Minimum Qualifications<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree</li><li>
2 full-time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid occupational experience as a pilot and/or flight instructor, including a minimum of 200 hours of dual instruction.</li><li>
1 year of this work experience must be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field.</li><li>
The recency requirement will be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.</li><li>
Must also hold Certified Flight Instructor &ndash; Airplane (CFI) and Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII) credentials.</li></ul>
