Position Summary

The Bankruptcy Specialist plays an important role by preparing Bankruptcy legal filing documents and supporting documents in accordance with bankruptcy regulations. He or she submits prepared bankruptcy claim packages to attorneys for review and approval. Additionally, responds to any inquiries or requests from courts and attorneys.

Compensation

This role is a non-exempt position with a Targeted Salary Range of $20/hr to $28/hr.

Compensation at Guild is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to local and federal minimum wage requirements, education, level of experience, and applicant&rsquo;s geographical location.

Essential Functions
<ul>
<li>Manage Bankruptcy portfolio on an independent basis.</li>
<li>Ensure MFRs are requested based on investor guidelines and POCs are referred to attorney in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Enter detailed notes in the system of record for all related to pertinent actions taken, delays, follow-up actions, and phone conversations.</li>
<li>Review debtor schedules, plans, and intentions; take appropriate action when necessary.</li>
<li>Handle inbound calls from customers for Bankruptcy purposes and ensuring complete customer satisfaction and deliver best-in-class service experience in a professional courteous manner to our customers.</li>
<li>Process referrals efficiently and accurately with outside council for Agreed Orders, Reaffirmation Agreements, Motion for Relief, Plan Objections, Plan Confirmation, Notice of Post-petition Fee, Notice of Final Cure and other Bankruptcy Inquires.</li>
<li>Calculate and apply bankruptcy fees to loans.</li>
<li>Ensure Dismissal/Relief Notices are received and properly filed.</li>
<li>Maintain an understanding of payment applications. Also, the ability to read and understand payment histories.</li>
<li>Manage deadlines by prioritizing and handling multiple projects with competing time constraints.</li>
<li>Receive and audit attorney invoices for accuracy.</li>
<li>Prepare monthly reports as requested by Management.</li>
<li>Ensure completed files are audited for accuracy and uploaded into the document retention system.</li>
<li>Adhere to all corporate policies as well as internal and external and compliance guidelines.</li>
<li>Notarize documents as requested.</li>

Qualifications

<li>High school diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred, along with five years total work experience in positions with responsibility for processing mortgage foreclosures, associated documents and timelines, with at least one year experience with bankruptcies.</li>
<li>Notary Public License or obtained within six months of employment.</li>
<li>Highly organized and detail oriented; ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment required.</li>
<li>Basic math skills.</li>
<li>Highly proficient with data entry, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.</li>
<li>Ability to work in an emotionally demanding role that requires patience and professionalism while interacting with consumers experiencing financial and emotional stress.</li>

Staff Attorney Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Expected to conduct outreach to prospective clients and routinely be out of the office at court, community partner agencies, or other off-site locations, attend meetings of the HomeSave Coalition and other local community meetings and participate in clinics, community legal education, or other outreach events.</li><li>
Provide free legal assistance to eligible households in a variety of legal matters to meet their clients' essential needs, such as housing and subsistence income, including housing-related bankruptcy, housing post-foreclosure, or other homeownership-related issues.</li><li>
Expected to represent clients in multiple forums, in varied areas of law, and types of actions and proceedings.</li><li>
Provide advice, brief service, and full representation to eligible clients, Responsibilities will include data collection, grant reporting, case file, and case management system maintenance.</li></ul>
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional law office environment and occasionally may require the carrying of regular office supplies. This role requires using standard office equipment and software and remote videoconferencing platforms.
