We are currently seeking a Behavior Support Specialist at the KRESA Service Center in Portage, Michigan. The essential responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:<ul><li>

Develop and implement Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs), in collaboration with each student&rsquo;s prospective school support team, based on Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), to address challenging behaviors</li><li>
Facilitate Functional Behavior Assessments with teachers, parents/guardians, and other professionals to gather information and determine the function(s) of the behavior(s) for students identified with complex behavioral support needs</li><li>
Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute to the development of IEP goals related to behavior, as needed</li><li>
Oversee the program's behavior crisis support procedures, response protocols, and implementation in coordination with other school professionals (i.e. School Social Workers and Administration/Leadership)</li><li>
Stay current with research and best practices in the field of behavior support</li><li>
Administer professional development regarding behavior management techniques to ensure consistency in implementation across the program</li><li>
Serve as a continuous resource and consultant for teachers and staff regarding behavioral strategies and interventions</li><li>
Provide direct support to students with active PBSPs to model strategies and interventions documented in the student&rsquo;s plan</li><li>
Establish a system of ongoing data collection and analysis to monitor student progress</li><li>
Conduct behavioral observations and fidelity checks to ensure behavior support plans are being implemented with consistency and fidelity</li><li>
Assign duties, based on student and staff need, to the program&rsquo;s Behavior Technician(s), in conjunction with their direct supervisor, to bolster behavior support implementation and promote student progress</li><li>
Coordinate regular PBSP Review meetings to report on student progress, assess current needs, obtain feedback from professionals implementing the plan, and adjust interventions if necessary</li><li>
Communicate regularly with all points of contact influential to a student&rsquo;s behavioral health (i.e. parents/guardians, classroom staff, other school professionals, community resources, and the student themselves)</li></ul>
Qualified candidates will have:<ul><li>
A Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in psychology, education, social work, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)</li><li>
Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs, particularly in behavior support roles</li><li>
Knowledge of behavior management techniques, positive behavior interventions, and strategies for students with diverse needs</li><li>
Experience with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques</li><li>

The LBA will be part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team that includes nursing, psychiatry, and operational support. The LBA will direct the assessment and treatment of challenging behavior, along with skill acquisition components of treatment within this framework. The LBA serves in a leadership and supervisory role, managing Behavior Support Specialists (often LBAs in training) while also conducting direct clinical work.</div>
Responsibilities:

The Behavior Analyst supervises and oversees all activities associated with the development and implementation of behavior analytic services within the Individual Service Plan and Behavior Intervention Plan.</div><ul><li>
Leads the development and implementation of behavior plans; this includes functional behavior assessment/analysis, preference assessments and treatment evaluations.

Assistants may spend a substantial portion of their time providing intervention to students who exhibit maladaptive behaviors including repetitive, disruptive, aggressive, depressive, and/or self-injurious behaviors associated with ASD or ED.
Other Characteristics 
Assist in autism and ED programs with children ranging from age 0-22 either in small groups or individually. Many of the children also have learning disabilities; processing difficulties, conduct problems, and aggressive behaviors (verbal and physical). The assistant must be prepared to manage the whole class in crisis situations. Assist with students who require constant supervision. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and physically restrain and control a student up to 150 pounds with assistance.<h5 class="jobSectionHeader">
Minimum Qualifications</h5><ul><li>
High School Diploma or equivalent; Courses in psychology, sociology, recreation, or related fields are preferable, but not required.</li><li>
A.A. degree, 48 units beyond the high school diploma, or successful completion of the District Instructional Assistant Proficiency Test in reading, math, and per the Federal No Child Left Behind Act.</li><li>
Willingness to complete such training and use non-violent behavior intervention, emergency interventions and physical restraint techniques.</li><li>
Training in crisis intervention applied behavior analysis (ABA), pivotal response training, discrete trial training, Floortime Assessment, visual communication systems and/or Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) highly desirable.</li><li>
Must complete Pro-Act Training within 6 months of hire.</li></ul>
