The BHC is an integral member of the medical team whose role is to help address a broad spectrum of behavioral health needs in the medical clinic population. The BHC aids in early identification and provides, brief, solution focused interventions that promote wellness and preventions for as many patients as possible. The BHC provides same-day consultative services to medical providers and patients for a broad array of behavioral health issues in the form of assessment, brief intervention, and triage of psychosocial problems in the clinic patient population.

 This position requires advanced skills in conducting brief assessments using a biopsychosocial model and delivering brief, evidence-based interventions to improve overall health and quality of life of patients with a variety of physical, emotional, and behavioral needs. Functions as an integrated member of the care team by assisting physicians, advanced practice, and other medical staff in managing the overall health of their patient populations. A Behavioral health Consultant helps improve recognition, treatment and management of psychosocial/behavioral problems and medical conditions in enrolled population. The Behavioral Health Consultant provides consultation services to all patients referred by the medical team.

<div><div><b>Job Description</b></div>
<div><div>The Behavioral Health Care Manager (BHCM) serves as a vital member of the Student Health Services team, advancing the university&rsquo;s commitment to holistic student well-being by integrating behavioral health into a primary care setting. Working within a collaborative care model, the BHCM partners closely with medical providers, a psychiatric consultant, and campus and community stakeholders to ensure students receive coordinated, accessible, and effective care that addresses both physical and mental health needs.</div><div>

In this role, the BHCM provides direct, student-centered behavioral health services, including screening, assessment, brief intervention, and ongoing care management for a unique college population. Utilizing evidence-based approaches such as motivational interviewing, behavioral activation, and problem-solving treatment, the BHCM supports students in addressing common mental health and substance use concerns while promoting resilience, self-management, and academic success. The position emphasizes timely access to care, continuity of services, and proactive engagement strategies to support students throughout their wellness journey.<br>
</div><div>The BHCM is responsible for coordinating care across providers and settings, monitoring student progress, and adjusting treatment plans based on clinical outcomes and evolving needs. Through regular case review and consultation, the BHCM contributes to team-based decision-making and ensures that treatment recommendations are effectively communicated and implemented. The role also involves maintaining accurate documentation, managing patient records to track outcomes, and using data to inform care delivery and re-engage students who may be at risk of falling out of care.<br>
</div><div>Beyond direct clinical work, the BHCM plays a key role in supporting Student Health Services&rsquo; broader mission of health promotion and prevention. This includes contributing to outreach initiatives, fostering connections with students through both in-person and virtual platforms, and collaborating with campus partners to enhance awareness of mental health resources. The BHCM demonstrates a strong commitment to culturally responsive, ethical, and confidential care, while maintaining flexibility and collaboration in a dynamic university environment.<br>

<div><div>Experience providing behavioral health services, preferably in a college health, primary care, or integrated care setting.</div><div>

Experience with mental health and/or substance use screening and assessment.<br>
Knowledge of young adult development and college student mental health needs are preferred.</div></div>
