</div><div><div>The Native Collective Research Effort to Enhance Wellness (NCREW) addresses overdose, substance use, mental health, and pain management programs that are funded by NIH&rsquo;s Helping to End Addiction Long-term (HEAL) Initiative, which bolsters research across NIH to improve both prevention and treatment for opioid misuse and addiction and pain management. The NCREW Program seeks to support Tribes and Native American Serving Organizations (T/NASOs) in responding to the opioid/drug public health emergency through grant-funded research projects aimed at addressing overdose, substance use and pain, and related factors such as mental health or wellbeing. This position is located within the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Health Service (ASTHS) at the Little Axe, OK, location. The Director of Behavioral Health NIH NCREW Grant is responsible for partnering with the Director of Behavioral Health Services, Executive Director, Medical Director, and the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma Council to align, support, manage, and expand the Behavioral Health NIH NCREW Grant. The overarching goal is to advance a comprehensive research, prevention, and treatment program that serves Absentee Shawnee Tribal members as well as current and future ASTHS patients. The Director will also serve as a primary point of communication with Tribes and tribal behavioral and physical health programs.</div>

<div>Ensure that the NIH-funded program supports a holistic research, prevention, and treatment model for tribal members and ASTHS patients.</div>

<div>Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective execution of NIH-funded initiatives.</div>
<div>Plan, implement, and oversee evaluation activities to measure program impact, effectiveness, and compliance with NIH grant expectations.</div>
<div>Establish and strengthen partnerships with tribal entities, government agencies, healthcare systems, and academic or research collaborators relevant to the NIH grant.</div>

To fulfill the promise of the Brandt Center and to propel Rutgers into the highest echelon of leadership and innovation in the field, the chancellor of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) will commit to a major start-up package to recruit and retain a visionary leader to establish the Center research program. This is in line with recent high-profile strategic hires to grow the research profile of RBHS. The inaugural director will have a unique opportunity to redefine the standard of care in the 21st century for the broad population of adolescents and young adults treated by the Rutgers Health system while advancing his or her own portfolio of research and scholarship.<br>

The candidate should have strong externally funded research and be prepared to develop a basic and/or clinical research program to address the needs of this specific population across the Rutgers Health system. The candidate should be a leader who can coordinate multi-disciplinary research in this field among Rutgers faculty, connect research to clinical care provided at the Brandt Center as well as throughout the Rutgers Health system, and develop new research opportunities.
