Arrange for or provide transportation to people receiving services as required.</li><li>Assist people receiving services with knowledge of emergency procedures and personal safety.</li><li>Utilize effective judgment when dealing with safety issues, including but not limited to fire safety by conducting drills, inspecting equipment, and practicing safety procedures in the community.</li><li>Facilitate access to community resources, including locating recreational activities, housing, food, clothing, school programs, vocational opportunities or services providers to teach life skills, and relevant mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse services.</li><li>Assist person supported to develop natural resources and make contact with social support networks.</li><li>Assist new staff and/or current staff with orientation, mentoring, and training.</li><li>Sleepover at a residential setting may be required.</li><li>Attend and actively participate in meetings and training as required. Division of Youth Services - Marvin Foote Youth Services CenterAbout the Division of Youth Services: The Division of Youth Services (DYS) provides a continuum of residential and non-residential services that encompass juvenile detention, commitment, and parole. DYS is the agency statutorily mandated to provide for the care and supervision of youth committed by the District Court to the custody of the Colorado Department of Human Services. The Division operates fifteen secure facilities that serve youth between the ages of 10 and 21, who are pre-adjudicated, sentenced, or committed. The Division also contracts with numerous private residential and non-residential service providers throughout the State. For pre-adjudicated youth, the Division is also responsible for the management and oversight of Colorado Youth Detention Continuum, a State-funded, locally administered program that provides services to youth at risk of further progressing into the juvenile justice system. In addition to residential programming, the Division administers juvenile parole services throughout the State. Behavioral Health Specialists are expected to provide for the therapeutic care of and support opportunities for growth and change for youth and their caregivers, to ensure healthy and successful reintegration back into our communities. These positions maintain and support the DYS treatment model and Sanctuary principles with transition staff, client management, mental health services, medical, special education, security staff and administration as needed. As a Behavioral Health Specialist within our facility, they are expected to remain current on literature and research in the field, especially as relates to emerging practices with complex mental health populations and behavioral and sensory interventions.Summary of the position: This position functions as a mental health counselor. This position provides mental health and case management services to committed and detained youth in the Division of Youth Services. We operate residential and other correctional programs throughout Wisconsin that provide case management, counseling and treatment groups, vocational training and high-risk client monitoring and supervision. Facility/Department summary: Residential Treatment Centers for Correctional Clients operate 24 hours per day with on-duty staff for our clients. Staff monitor client behaviors and whereabouts in the community and enforce program rules and accountability. Substance abuse counseling, cognitive-based programming and correctional case management are provided in an intensive setting. Clients can be granted gradual re-entry into the community based on earned privileges. All service components of our Residential Treatment Centers emphasize trauma-informed care and employ an individualized approach to each client
This full-time position is responsible for ensuring program compliance with program rules and funding guidelines for a correctional Community Based Residential Facility, housing adult correctional clients. Due to the importance placed on security and community safety, this position is integral to the overall success of the program and must be filled by a reliable individual who is capable of making good decisions, has excellent organizational skills, and work well with limited supervision. The ultimate goal of this position is to change behavior in a positive manner to reduce the recidivism rate of our clients. The person who will succeed in this position will have good professional judgement and enthusiasm for creating a therapeutic environment where our residents will succeed.
Hours/schedule: 40 hrs./wk. Monday- Friday 12am - 8am. Eligible for all company benefits.
Duties include, but are not limited to:<ul><li>
Provide security and supervision to clients.</li><li>
Monitor client whereabouts</li><li>
Monitor client behavior</li><li>
Maintain required paperwork, progress notes, daily logs, incident reports</li><li>
Conduct facility checks and assign client activities</li><li>
Supervise client meal preparation &amp; household chores</li></ul>
&bull; Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) &bull; By being employed with ACS, which is a non-profit agency, you can be eligible for loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. &bull; Loans are eligible to be forgiven after 10 years of on-time and consistent payments through the income-based re-payment plan. &bull;
.Education &amp; Work Experience
<ul><li>Some college preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required.</li><li>
1 years experience and/or education relating to corrections, community based residential facilities (CBRF), criminal justice, human services, psychology, sociology, security, social service, mental health, behavioral health, or law enforcement preferred.</li><li>
Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work well with individuals of diverse backgrounds.</li><li>
Ability to interact with staff, clients, and agents in an effective manner while maintaining professional boundaries.</li><li>
Ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality of all agency information.</li><li>
Strong decision making abilities and able to work independently.</li><li>
Knowledge of nutrition and sanitation.</li><li>
Experience in record-keeping.</li></ul>
