We are seeking a <b>Medical Equipment Planner</b> to support The Long Beach Veterans Affairs Healthcare System (LBVAHCS). In this role, you will work under the Engineering Service Planning Section and the supervision of the VA Supervisory Interior Designer, where you will develop objectives, manage resources, and independently execute assigned equipment planning responsibilities. You will oversee and support major project activations, equipment planning, specification, budgeting, procurement package development, and coordination of delivery and installation to ensure accurate and fully functional equipment integration aligned with VA requirements.</p>

This is contingent upon the award of the contract. Project duration is expected to be one base year plus three option years.</b></p>

Key Responsibilities:</b></div>
<ul><li>
Independently develop and execute medical equipment planning services for clinical and support spaces including patient care rooms, treatment rooms, waiting areas, conference rooms, lobbies, break rooms, utility rooms, and storage areas.</li><li>
Analyze architectural drawings, equipment schedules, and electrical/data plans to identify gaps, overlaps, and coordination issues.</li><li>
Conduct existing equipment inventory audits, value cost analyses, and reuse studies with recommendations aligned to VA guidelines.</li><li>
Coordinate integration of medical equipment with building systems including audiovisual, security, IT infrastructure, acoustics, and clinical technologies.</li><li>
Plan, schedule, document, and coordinate relocation of existing equipment alongside procurement and installation of new equipment.</li><li>
Provide technical oversight for medical equipment planning across major construction projects, ensuring accuracy, functionality, and compliance with VA standards.</li><li>
Coordinate with engineers, architects, designers, and technical teams including electrical, mechanical, structural, and low-voltage disciplines.</li><li>
Interpret architectural plans and ensure compliance with VA Technical Information Library (TIL) standards and equipment specifications.</li><li>
Maintain knowledge of regulatory standards including TJC, NFPA, FDA, NRC, and AAMI.</li><li>
Develop procurement packages including Statements of Work (SOW), technical specifications, drawings, cost estimates, bid sheets, and budgets.</li><li>
Manage procurement tracking, financial logs, vendor coordination, and delivery and installation schedules.</li><li>
Maintain digital resource libraries including equipment documentation, project correspondence, drawings, and specifications.</li><li>
Provide training and support to clinical end users during move-in and activation phases.</li><li>
Coordinate with Biomedical Engineering, Logistics, and related departments to ensure proper equipment documentation, tagging, and system integration.</li><li>
Identify and resolve equipment and design conflicts to prevent construction delays and ensure operational readiness.</li><li>
Provide technical expertise and respond to equipment-related inquiries from stakeholders and project teams.</li><li>
Collaborate with Facilities Management, IT, Patient Safety, Sterile Processing, Contracting, EMS, and Biomedical teams to develop equipment standards and plans.</li></ul>

Qualifications to be successful in the role:</b></div>
<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in architecture or engineering or any relevant field of study</li><li>
Minimum of three years of medical equipment planning experience in a healthcare/hospital construction environment experience .</li><li>
Strong knowledge of current medical technologies, systems integration, and vendor developments.</li><li>
Ability to write equipment specifications and Statements of Work for medical equipment procurement.</li><li>
Ability to review and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.</li><li>
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) for documentation and tracking.</li><li>
AutoCAD and MS Project experience (preferred).</li><li>
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with contractors, vendors, engineers, and government stakeholders.</li><li>
Must possess a valid driver&rsquo;s license.</li></ul>

The Home Medical Equipment Specialist, Retail provides coordination of in-person, telephonic, and electronic home medical equipment referrals including respiratory medical equipment and supplies. Ensures continuity of care with the customer, their provider, and/or referral sources within a retail store setting.<p></p><div><b>
Job Description:</b></div><p>
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Provides exceptional customer service either face-to-face or telephonically with customers and their family members, referrals sources, payer&rsquo;s, and our internal customers to meet the customer&rsquo;s home medical equipment needs. 2. Advocates, initiates, and coordinates home medical equipment referrals to meet the customer&rsquo;s plan of care from the provider in an efficient and timely manner. Assesses the level of urgency of a patient need and prioritizes accordingly. 3. Assesses, gathers, and coordinates all clinical and nonclinical referrals for proper documentation, ensuring the insurance guidelines, regulatory guidelines, and qualifications are met to ensure a defect-free order and claim. 4. Responds to customer inquiries by researching documentation and insurance guidelines. Consults with insurance providers, hospitals, clinics, and other medical entities through written or verbal methods to complete a referral accurately to meet the patient&rsquo;s plan of care. 5. Verifies and generates appropriate documentation along with follow-up for accuracy of patient information to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement. 6. Demonstrates and educates customers on proper fitting techniques, contraindications, wear and care issues, and financial obligations of products to ensure there is safe use of the product. 7. Promotes an appealing showroom environment in the retail stores to provide patients an exceptional customer experience. 8. Monitors and maintains accurate and adequate inventory levels to meet the needs of customers. 9. Maintains knowledge of all the medical equipment offered and builds relationships with purchasing and vendors to ensure this knowledge is always up to date. 10. Is proficient with cash handling techniques including cash, checks, and credit card functions. Performs reconciliation of the cash drawer at the end of the day and follows bank deposit procedures. 11. Analyzes data to ensure accuracy with insurance resources and guidelines, regulatory and reimbursement manual and criteria, HCPC and ICD-10 coding manuals, provider directories, and other online resources to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement. 12. Maintains proper safety measures for customer and team members including infection prevention, safe equipment usage, and body mechanics with proper lifting and positioning techniques</p><p>
