Interviews donors to determine eligibility according to the departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and conducts a medical history and physical examination.</li><li>
Follows established criteria for the temporary/permanent deferral of donors to prevent inadvertent collection from an ineligible donor.</li><li>
Performs whole blood collection using established sterile technique in preparation of phlebotomy site and performs platelet pheresis collection using the apheresis system.</li><li>
Performs daily quality control, including daily scale calibration and other equipment used in the selection and collection process. Responsible for the documentation and corrective action as needed.</li><li>
May work on mobile blood drives at locations throughout Massachusetts, and assist in maintaining adequate inventory of necessary supplies for the Donor Center and Off-Site Mobile Blood Drives.</li><li>

Occupational Demands Form # 71:</b> Work is performed in a plasma center. Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment. Exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F while working in plasma freezer. Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments, gloves and cold gear. Work is performed sitting or standing for entire shift, bending, and twisting neck and waist for 1-2 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Ability to make precise coordinated movements, of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects. Frequent foot movement: may infrequently squat, crouch or sit on one's heels. </div><div>We're seeking a <b>Patient Care Technician for Emory University Hospital </b>responsible for being a capable certified technician who cares about the quality of their work an ensuring the safety for all patients.</div><div>
This individual will:<br>
</div><div></div><ul><li>Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN, including but not limited to: cleaning the patient's room, operating various clinical equipment, helping with emergencies, assisting with patient procedures, collecting and transporting patient specimens and completing applicable forms.</li><li>
Maintains hospital and unit-specific competencies.</li><li>
Assists in emergency situations as directed by an RN/LPN.</li><li>
Ensures that prescribed measures related to hygiene, comfort, and rest are provided.</li><li>
Complies with Standard Precautions guidelines, Infection Control procedures, and safety standards to maintain and promote a clean and healthy work environment.</li><li>
Assists in the use of bag-valve-mask device, anti-embolism stockings, pneumatic compression stockings, oxygen, suction equipment, incentive spirometer, emergency cart and bedside glucose monitoring machine.</li><li>
Operates converter chair, lifts, scales, beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, non-invasive BP monitors, automatic thermometer, sphygmomanometer, pulse oximeter, and computers.</li></ul><div><b><br>
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
</b></div><ul><li>A high school diploma or equivalent.</li><li>
BLS required.</li><li>
Must meet one of the following requirements:</li><li><ul><li>
One year of direct patient care experience,</li><li>
Successful completion of a nursing assistant training course</li><li>
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license through State of Georgia, OR</li><li>
Current enrollment in a nursing program and completion of 2 clinical rotations.</li></ul></li></ul><div></div><div><b><br>
