The Bookkeeper will work closely with the CFO/CDO and Executive Director to ensure all financial records are accurate, current, and audit-ready.</p><p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p><p><b>General Ledger &amp; Journal Entries</b></p><ul><li>Prepare, post, and reconcile journal entries on a timely basis in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).</li><li>Maintain and update the General Ledger (GL) to ensure accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions.</li><li>Perform month-end and year-end close procedures, including accruals and adjusting entries.</li><li>Identify and correct GL discrepancies; Your experience may include:</div><ul><li>
Minimum 1-3 years of practical accounting/bookkeeping experience</li><li>
Working knowledge of MS Excel and other Microsoft products</li><li>
Understanding of core concepts related to collections including accounts receivable, cash application, customer communication, and management</li><li>
Working knowledge of basic accounting terminology and procedures</li><li>
An associate or bachelor&rsquo;s degree in accounting is preferred; however, we highly value equivalent professional experience and encourage candidates with a strong accounting background to apply.</li></ul><div>

Our targeted starting base salary in the United States for this position ranges from $46,000 - $54,500. To determine a new team member&rsquo;s starting pay, we consider a variety of factors, including someone&rsquo;s depth, breadth, and variety of experience, skills, and responsibilities. Depending on the role, team members may also be eligible to participate in additional compensation plans such as bonus and commission.</div><p><br>

<p><b>
What You Will Be Doing:</b></p>
<p>
The Staff Accountant ll position is responsible for collecting and recording customer payments, reconciling customer accounts, monitoring the aging of accounts, and performing other related tasks for Moody Media Accounts Receivable.</p>
<p><b>
Essential Functions:</b></p>
<p>

1. Apply payments to customer accounts according to Moody Publishers and Moody Radio policies and customer remittance instructions.</p>
<p>
2. Process new account applications and establish credit limits with approval from Moody Publishers Finance Director.</p>
<p>
3. Implement credit risk decisions with approval from Moody Publishers Finance Director.</p>
<p>
4. Reconcile customer accounts as needed.</p>
<p>
5. Review and release orders from credit hold within assigned parameters.</p>
<p>
6. Secure and respond to credit references.</p>
<p>
7. Monitor aging of accounts; collect past due amounts and document collection efforts.</p>
<p>
8. Refer accounts to outside collection agency when appropriate.</p>
<p>
9. Investigate and resolve customer deductions related to returns, shortages, price discrepancies, advertising allowances, or any other deduction with appropriate customer accounts payable staff.</p>
<p>
10. Generate and send monthly statement spreadsheets to major customers.</p>
<p>
11. For Moody Publishers subsidiary rights, apply royalty payments to appropriate holding account and perform month-end posting procedure.</p>
<p>
12. Prepare and process bank deposits in a timely manner.</p>
<p>
13. Research and resolve credit-related customer questions and concerns.</p>
<p>
14. Process customer refunds as necessary.</p>
<p>
15. Utilize technology for electronic processing and record retention.</p>
<p>
16. Perform related and special duties as assigned.</p>
<p><b>
Minimum Requirements:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Accounting or 5+ years of bookkeeping experience, or a combination of both.</li>
<li>Experience with electronic spreadsheets (Excel).</li>
<li>Strong data entry skills with attention to detail and accuracy a must.</li>
<li>Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.</li>
<li> Strong customer service skills (both verbal and written).</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Preferred Requirements:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience with Peoplesoft/Oracle and Global/Klopotek PPM software preferred.</li>
<li>Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Work Environment/Conditions:</b></p>
<p>
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier/scanning/fax devices, and filing cabinets.</p>
<p>
Hours: Monday &ndash; Friday 8:00 am &ndash; 4:30 pm.</p>
<p>
No travel is expected for this position.</p>
