 Candidates hired to support the Walker Branch will be onboarded and trained at another Kent District Library location. Once the remodel is complete, staff will transition back to the Walker Branch. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
 Serves the public by checking in and out library materials, collecting money for lost and damaged materials, issues new/replacement library cards, registers new patrons and processes name and address changes. Responsible for collection maintenance duties: sorts and shelves library materials; empties book-drop(s); shelf-reading; shifts materials; cleans, dusts, and inspects library materials for damage; discards and repairs library materials.Ensures circulation policies and procedures are followed for the proper handling of customer and material records for an accurate library database. This includes data entry of late, lost, damaged, and claims returned items, and patron information including necessary notes.Sorts, packs, unpacks, and inspects library materials received from or being delivered to other libraries.Runs reports and lists for item hold information and inter-library loan requests. Provides lists to others for purposes of retrieving items requested, and routes items appropriately. Oversees and performs the sorting, processing and distribution of all incoming and outgoing delivery including &ldquo;in-reach&rdquo; materials.</li><li>
May assist in opening, closing and monitoring building and in maintaining building security and safety standards as assigned.</li></ul>

 Summary Minimum Education &amp; Experience Required
<ul><li>
High school diploma or GED.</li><li>
At least three years work experience as a Branch Clerk or similar position. Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.</li><li>
A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.</li></ul>

 OTHER TESTING/LICENSES REQUIRED
<ul><li>
A criminal background check is required, and pre-employment drug screening.</li><li>
A valid driver's license, personal transportation and in-force automobile insurance is required.</li><li>
Certification as a Passport Acceptance Agent required after hire unless exempted</li></ul>

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
<ul><li>
Routine lifting of moderately heavy items, such as books or records boxes (over 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds), pushing full carts and/or standing for long periods of time as well as frequent stooping and bending.</li><li>
No major sources of working conditions discomfort, i.e. standard work environment with possible minor inconveniences due to occasional noise, crowded working conditions, and/or minor heating, cooling or ventilation problems.</li><li>
Occasional minor discomforts from near-continual computer terminal use.</li></ul></div>
