GENERAL SUMMARY
Under supervision of the Guest Service Shift Leader, provides first-line customer service and transportation to guests on the Aircraft Operations Area (AOA), for special events and tours, and during irregular operations and emergencies.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>
Operates a van or bus providing for internal and external DFW for special events or airport tours or when requested by the Integrated Operations Center (IOC) for airline hardstand operations, evacuation of disabled aircraft, or in the event of irregular operations, emergency, or disaster.</li><li>
Assists disabled passengers by providing special transportation as required.</li><li>
Completes passenger counts, mileage/time logs, malfunction, and accident reports.</li><li>
Assists customers with luggage.</li><li>
Inspects vehicle fleet for proper operation and physical condition.</li><li>
Locates and retrieves lost items/passengers.</li><li>
Responds to customer complaints to customer&rsquo;s satisfaction within Board operating procedures or refers to Shift Lead for resolution.</li><li>
Responds to customer injuries and emergencies; acts as initial point of contact during these events and relays emergency information to appropriate persons.</li><li>
Fuels buses and staff vehicles daily, routinely removes trash/debris from inside vehicles and processes Regulated Garbage per federal policy, routinely drives buses and vans through washing and fueling facilities.</li><li>
Other duties as assigned.</li></ul>
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>
High school diploma or equivalent.</li><li>
One (1) year experience in a position requiring extensive public contact.</li><li>
Possession Class B Commercial driver&rsquo;s license with a passenger (P) endorsement.</li><li>
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, repeated as necessary within a 10-hour period.</li><li>
Must be able to exert coupling forces from 8 pounds to 20 pounds 4 times per hour.</li><li>
Must be able to maintain seated posture continuously for a period up to 10 hours.</li><li>
Must be able to maintain standing posture up to 30 minutes at a time, intermittently during 10-hour periods.</li><li>
Must pass a medical physical examination.</li><li>
Must maintain Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Certificate.</li><li>
Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport&rsquo;s Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.</li></ul>
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Continued):<ul><li>
Ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection (CBP) security access clearance within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for CBP security access clearance upon each CBP security access renewal.</li><li>
Must be able to meet all initial and recurrent training requirements in accordance with Title 14 CFR part 139 and administrative Policy AO.014.01, Ground Vehicle Driver Training for Air Operations Area (AOA) within 30 days of assignment to a driving position and before being permitted to operate the vehicle without the direct supervision and presence of a co-operator qualified under this requirement.</li><li>
This is a Department of Transportation (DOT) designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport&rsquo;s Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure. Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass drug and alcohol tests prior to employment and to submit to drug and alcohol screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the DOT safety sensitive position.</li></ul>
This is a designated Essential Employee position as defined in DFW Airport&rsquo;s Categories and Classifications Administrative Policy and Procedure. An essential employee is one whose attendance is required to maintain airport operations during an emergency or inclement weather situation.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:<ul><li>
Knowledge of the principles and practices of public transportation.</li><li>
Knowledge of Airport Board transportation standards and procedures.</li><li>
Ability to work flexible hours and rotating shift assignments, 8-hour shifts or 10-hour shifts.</li><li>
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to prepare and maintain routine records and reports.</li><li>
Ability to think and act quickly in emergencies.</li><li>
Ability to communicate clearly over two-way radio.</li><li>
Ability to maintain harmonious effective working relationships and to deal with difficult public relation issues.</li><li>
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.</li><li>
Vision (near/far/depth) ability to operate controls onboard bus, safely drive and navigate through traffic.</li><li>
Hearing ability at level to hear two/way radio transmissions from a distance of 2' and to safely monitor immediate traffic noise and emergency sirens.</li></ul>
DESIRABLE:<ul><li>
Ability to speak a second language, in addition to English.</li><li>
Experience in customer service.</li></ul>
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>
Must have a good private driving record: (a) no more than two (2) convictions of moving violations in the last 36 months and (b) no DWI convictions in the last 60 months.</li></ul>

Reacts calmly, quickly, and logically in emergency situations; works hours in excess of normal shift during emergencies.</li><li>

<div>The Paratransit Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe, dependable, and courteous transportation of passengers. This role involves conducting pre-trip inspections, operating TARTA vehicles, assisting passengers with special needs, and adhering strictly to safety regulations. 
TARTA has recently embarked on a transformational journey with the passage of Issue 12 in 2021. This local sales tax levy has significantly increased the local investment into the transit authority and has also expanded its service area to all of Lucas County and the City of Rossford in Wood County. In response to the local community&rsquo;s renewed focus and support of TARTA, the Board adopted TARTA Next, a ten-year plan to increase services, invest in capital assets such as new mobility hubs and a zero-emissions bus fleet, and to improve customer experience through investments in technology, bus shelters and signage, and customer outreach. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>
Conduct daily pre-trip inspections and accurately complete inspection forms.</li><li>
Operate TARTA vehicles safely to transport passengers along designated routes.</li><li>
Maintain order and enforce safety rules throughout the duration of trips.</li><li>
Adhere strictly to appropriate route schedules.</li><li>
Aid passengers with mobility devices, including securing seat belts, hook-ups, and harnesses.</li><li>
Record daily rider attendance for reporting purposes.</li><li>
Ensure compliance with traffic regulations, as well as TARTA policies and procedures.</li><li>
Securely fasten seat belts, hook-ups, and harnesses on mobility devices.</li><li>
Report any maintenance issues promptly and ensure the cleanliness of the vehicle interior.</li><li>
Report accidents and incidents as required.</li><li>
Report any traffic violations involving personal and TARTA vehicles.</li><li>
Attend driver meetings and relevant training workshops.</li><li>
Undertake any other related duties as directed.</li></ul>

The Paratransit Operator position requires occasional sitting and driving (0.25 to 2.5 hours each), continuous walking, and lifting/carrying up to 30 pounds (5.5 to 8 hours). Frequent lifting/carrying of 10 to 30 pounds (2.5 to 5.5 hours), reaching, bending/stooping, and pushing/pulling (2.5 to 5.5 hours) are also required. No fine manipulation; moderate stress level.
