GENERAL SUMMARY
Under supervision of the Guest Service Shift Leader, provides first-line customer service and transportation to guests on the Aircraft Operations Area (AOA), for special events and tours, and during irregular operations and emergencies.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>
Operates a van or bus providing for internal and external DFW for special events or airport tours or when requested by the Integrated Operations Center (IOC) for airline hardstand operations, evacuation of disabled aircraft, or in the event of irregular operations, emergency, or disaster.</li><li>
Assists disabled passengers by providing special transportation as required.</li><li>
Completes passenger counts, mileage/time logs, malfunction, and accident reports.</li><li>
Assists customers with luggage.</li><li>
Inspects vehicle fleet for proper operation and physical condition.</li><li>
Locates and retrieves lost items/passengers.</li><li>
Responds to customer complaints to customer&rsquo;s satisfaction within Board operating procedures or refers to Shift Lead for resolution.</li><li>
Responds to customer injuries and emergencies; acts as initial point of contact during these events and relays emergency information to appropriate persons.</li><li>
Fuels buses and staff vehicles daily, routinely removes trash/debris from inside vehicles and processes Regulated Garbage per federal policy, routinely drives buses and vans through washing and fueling facilities.</li><li>
Other duties as assigned.</li></ul>
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>
High school diploma or equivalent.</li><li>
One (1) year experience in a position requiring extensive public contact.</li><li>
Possession Class B Commercial driver&rsquo;s license with a passenger (P) endorsement.</li><li>
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, repeated as necessary within a 10-hour period.</li><li>
Must be able to exert coupling forces from 8 pounds to 20 pounds 4 times per hour.</li><li>
Must be able to maintain seated posture continuously for a period up to 10 hours.</li><li>
Must be able to maintain standing posture up to 30 minutes at a time, intermittently during 10-hour periods.</li><li>

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Continued):<ul><li>
Ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection (CBP) security access clearance within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for CBP security access clearance upon each CBP security access renewal.</li><li>
Must be able to meet all initial and recurrent training requirements in accordance with Title 14 CFR part 139 and administrative Policy AO.014.01, Ground Vehicle Driver Training for Air Operations Area (AOA) within 30 days of assignment to a driving position and before being permitted to operate the vehicle without the direct supervision and presence of a co-operator qualified under this requirement.</li><li>
This is a Department of Transportation (DOT) designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport&rsquo;s Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure. Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass drug and alcohol tests prior to employment and to submit to drug and alcohol screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the DOT safety sensitive position.</li></ul>
This is a designated Essential Employee position as defined in DFW Airport&rsquo;s Categories and Classifications Administrative Policy and Procedure. An essential employee is one whose attendance is required to maintain airport operations during an emergency or inclement weather situation.

Must have a good private driving record: (a) no more than two (2) convictions of moving violations in the last 36 months and (b) no DWI convictions in the last 60 months.</li></ul>

<div>The Paratransit Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe, dependable, and courteous transportation of passengers. This role involves conducting pre-trip inspections, operating TARTA vehicles, assisting passengers with special needs, and adhering strictly to safety regulations. 
TARTA has recently embarked on a transformational journey with the passage of Issue 12 in 2021. This local sales tax levy has significantly increased the local investment into the transit authority and has also expanded its service area to all of Lucas County and the City of Rossford in Wood County. In response to the local community&rsquo;s renewed focus and support of TARTA, the Board adopted TARTA Next, a ten-year plan to increase services, invest in capital assets such as new mobility hubs and a zero-emissions bus fleet, and to improve customer experience through investments in technology, bus shelters and signage, and customer outreach. This transformation is well underway and powered by a dedicated team of professionals in each department from the leadership team to every front-line team member. 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>
Conduct daily pre-trip inspections and accurately complete inspection forms.</li><li>
Operate TARTA vehicles safely to transport passengers along designated routes.</li><li>
Maintain order and enforce safety rules throughout the duration of trips.</li><li>

Frequent lifting/carrying of 10 to 30 pounds (2.5 to 5.5 hours), reaching, bending/stooping, and pushing/pulling (2.5 to 5.5 hours) are also required. No fine manipulation; moderate stress level.

Paratransit Operator - Full Time

Overview: 
Transport drivers provide safe, prompt and courteous transportation for patients, visitors and staff. Before beginning their routes, drivers must complete a pre-trip inspection of their vehicle, including safety equipment. All drivers follow schedules and routes over the Health Center Complex and surrounding area, load and unload wheelchairs and strollers using the lift platform on the bus. Drivers routinely interact with customers answering questions about the hospital, clinics, parking, shuttle bus routes, and remote sites, they strive to make the ride comfortable and be as informative as possible.
 Drivers must operate vehicles safely in one of the heaviest traffic areas in town. Bus routes vary; drivers make numerous trips each day over the same streets and parking lots stopping frequently at designated stops. Drivers must be alert to prevent accidents, especially in heavy traffic or in bad weather, and to avoid sudden stops or swerves, which jar passengers.
 Drivers must make a pre-trip inspection of their vehicle and report any safety concerns and potential Maintenance issues. All drivers must be able to fill out accident reports when necessary.
 Driving a bus through heavy traffic while dealing with passengers is not physically strenuous, but it can be stressful and fatiguing. Drivers work with very little direct supervision with full responsibility for the bus and passengers. Drivers have a 5-day workweek, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. To accommodate heavy ridership demands at shift change, some drivers work split shifts, for example 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., with time off in between. Drivers may be asked to work weekends for special transports.
 
Qualifications:Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: 
High School diploma or equivalent. One year experience driving a class C or higher passenger bus or class B or higher truck, or six (6) months experience with the successful completion of a state approved CDL training course. Training course may include, but not limited to, state approved school district CDL training programs and private driver training schools. State and Federal regulations establish Bus driver qualifications and standards. All drivers must comply with Federal regulations and any state regulations that exceed Federal requirements. Bus drivers must hold a class A or B commercial drivers license (CDL), with passenger endorsement, from the state of Florida. A national data bank permanently records all driving violations incurred by persons who hold a commercial license.
 While the state of Florida requires a minimum age of 18 to drive within the state borders, Shands requires a minimum age of 25. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations require that drivers must pass a physical examination once every two years. Federal regulations also require random drug and alcohol test of drivers while on duty. A driver must not have more than 6 points on their license in the last 3 years. In addition, a driver must not have been convicted of a felony involving the use of a motor vehicle; a crime involving drugs; driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol; or hit-and-run driving which resulted in injury or death.
 Because bus drivers deal with passengers, they must be courteous. They need an even temperament and emotional stability because driving in heavy, stop-and-go traffic and dealing with passengers can be stressful. Drivers must have strong communication skills and be able coordinate and manage large groups of people.
