JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The primary function of the Flight Instructor II is to train customers to become pilots capable of safely demonstrating the skills and knowledge necessary to operate the aircraft for which they are being trained.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Flight instructors with Central Flying Academy report directly to the Flight Training Department Manager. Further, if training students under FAR Part 141 regulations issues specifically related to FAR Part 141 will be addressed to the Chief Pilot over the Part 141 Program.
WORKING CONDITIONS<ul><li>
The employee will be required to travel throughout all maintenance spaces, hangars, and across aircraft parking ramps, exposed to the temperature ranges found in Little Rock, AR.</li><li>
The Flight Instructor II will be aware of potential hearing damage from noise related to the operation of aircraft and take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and their student pilots.</li><li>
This is a NON-DOT Safety Sensitive Position as part of the job duties are climbing ladders at varying heights and getting in aircraft to teach students to fly. This position is one in which lapse of attention could result in injury, illness or death. For the safety sensitive employee and others, the employee must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate on the equipment being used as well as the surroundings on the ramp around moving aircraft.</li></ul>
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS<ul><li>
The primary job function of the Flight Instructor II is to train student pilots using the approved syllabus for the course of instruction being conducted.</li><li>
The Flight Instructor II position is also a sales position and the Flight Instructor II must promote the sales of goods and services at Central Flying Academy.</li></ul>
AUTHORITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>
The Flight Instructor II has authority over the operation of aircraft in which flight instruction is being given as per FAA regulations.</li><li>
The Flight Instructor II is responsible for the safe operation of aircraft in which flight instruction is being given.</li><li>
The Flight Instruction II is required to report any unsafe operation of Central Flying Academy equipment or aircraft to the Flight Training Manager immediately.</li><li>
The Flight Instructor II has the authority to remove from service aircraft which have been found unsafe for flight and report that aircraft to the Flight Training Manager.</li><li>
The Flight Instructor II is responsible for insuring student pilots at Central Flying Academy are trained to the standards set by Central Flying Academy and FAA regulations.</li><li>
The Flight Instructor II is also responsible for insuring the student pilot&rsquo;s expectations with regard to customer service are met or exceeded</li></ul>
DUTIES AND TASKS<ul><li>
The Flight Instructor II will train student pilots using the approved syllabus for the course of instruction being conducted.</li><li>
The Flight Instructor II will be issued a copy of the Flight Instructor Guidelines at the time of hire and is expected to follow the Guidelines. Any deviation from the Flight Instructor Guidelines must be approved by the Flight Training Manager.</li><li>
The Flight Instructor II must maintain a professional bearing at all times. Also, information of a confidential nature regarding students, fellow employees, or Central Flying Academy must be treated as such.</li><li>
The Flight Instructor II is responsible for insuring the schedule board is kept accurate with respect to their availability.</li></ul>
MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE<ul><li>
The measure of the Flight Instructor II&rsquo;s performance is based on the number of students the instructor completes through the training program and the % pass rate of the students completing the course of training.</li><li>
The Flight Instructor II is expected to complete at minimum 5 students per calendar year.</li><li>
The Flight Instructor II is expected to maintain a minimum 80% pass rate on student pilots taking their check rides for the first time.</li></ul>
