Job Summary and Qualifications</h5>
Under the general supervision of the Cath Lab Manager/Designee and the general direction of the medical staff the Cardiac Cath Lab Lead Technician is responsible for professional patient care and related assistance to patients experiencing cardiac intervention upon admission to the department. The Cath Lab Technician Lead utilizes the patient care process in ensuring safe and competent quality patient care. The Cath Lab Lead Technician in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory supports the medical care of all patient requiring any cardiac or peripheral intervention under the direction of the medical staff pursuant to the mission and objectives of the hospital. This person ensures a safe environment for the patient and others, appropriately communicates with physicians, co-workers, volunteers, other hospital departments and patient family members. The Cath Lab Technician lead acts to provide care in a competent, effective and cost effective manner.

Identifies and documents patients, family and significant other education needs in collaboration with other disciplines and participates in on-going education.</li><li>
Always acts in the best interests of the patient and their family considering medical problems and treatment precautions. Performs only neurodiagnostic tests that are permitted by the American Society of Electron euro-diagnostic Technologists.</li><li>
Observes all precautions when treating medically compromised patients</li><li>
Quickly and appropriately responds to fire alarms by serving as a member of &ldquo;fire brigade&rdquo;.</li><li>
Maintains an orderly and safe work area.</li><li>
Demonstrates accuracy in the assessment, evaluation and treatment of the patients upon physician orders</li><li>
Considers patient/family goals, home environment, learning needs and support system during evaluation</li><li>
Determines the patient&rsquo;s mental age, mental state and comprehension level.</li><li>

Job Summary
Oversees and monitors activities of Technologists in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Provides diagnostic and therapeutic services as prescribed. Provides input into policy development from a professional, technical, or procedural standpoint. As directed, provides input to procedure/protocol development, ensures compliance, and provides interpretation of procedural intent as requested. Monitors workflow and schedules staff accordingly.
As requested, provides input on performance appraisals and personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, etc. Provides input into the development of immediate, daily and/or monthly goals and measures for single or multiple, closely related functions, areas or processes and compiles periodic unit/area performance data. Assists in monitoring budget for single or multiple, closely related functions, areas, or services. Works with vendors to assure appropriate levels of supplies. May manage consignment agreements and participate in orientation of new employees. 
 
 
Qualifications: 
Minimum Qualifications
1. Graduate of an approved cardiovascular tech program or registered radiology tech program or equivalent education. RCIS or RCES; BLS; ACLS within 6 months of hire. 
2. Three years progressively responsible interventional Catheterization or Interventional radiology or 3 years Electrophysiology experience including some responsibility for the work of others.

The ability to read and comprehend procedures and technical literature in specific functional area is necessary.

The Cardiac Cath Lab Technician demonstrates critical thinking skills and judgment in assisting with the performance of imaging studies in the Cardiac Cath Lab. The Technician is responsible and accountable to perform studies timely, under the direction of the Cardiologist, Chief Technologist or Director of Imaging Services.

Job Summary 
 
The Cath Lab Technician is responsible for assisting physicians during cardiac catheterization procedures and other interventional procedures to diagnose and treat cardiovascular conditions. This role involves preparing and maintaining equipment, monitoring patients during procedures, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. The Cath Lab Technician plays a key role in supporting the efficiency and effectiveness of the cardiac catheterization laboratory. 
 
Essential Functions<ul><li>
Prepares the cardiac catheterization laboratory for procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and functioning properly.</li><li>
Assists physicians during procedures by operating specialized equipment, such as fluoroscopy machines, intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), or hemodynamic monitoring systems.</li><li>
Monitors patients' vital signs during procedures, documenting data and promptly reporting any abnormalities to the physician or clinical team.</li><li>
Prepares patients for procedures by positioning, draping, and explaining the process to alleviate anxiety and ensure compliance.</li><li>
Ensures accurate and complete documentation of procedures, patient data, and equipment usage in compliance with departmental policies.</li><li>
Adheres to radiation safety protocols and infection control guidelines to ensure patient and staff safety.</li><li>
Assists in the administration of contrast media and medications under the direction of the physician.</li><li>
Participates in quality improvement activities and assists in maintaining accreditation standards for the Cath Lab.</li><li>
Conducts routine maintenance and troubleshooting of Cath Lab equipment to ensure proper functionality and minimizes downtime.</li><li>
Provides post-procedural care and instructions to patients, collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal recovery and follow-up care.</li><li>
Performs other duties as assigned.</li><li>
Maintains regular and reliable attendance.</li><li>
Complies with all policies and standards.</li></ul>
Qualifications<ul><li>
1-2 years of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or cardiovascular diagnostic setting required</li></ul>
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities<ul><li>
Proficiency in cardiovascular diagnostic and interventional procedures, equipment use, and patient monitoring.</li><li>
Proficient understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and related medical terminology.</li><li>
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams and patient interaction.</li><li>
Ability to maintain focus in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to emergencies.</li></ul>
Licenses and Certifications<ul><li>
CVT - Cardiovascular Tech required or</li><li>
CRT - Certified Radiologic Technologist required or</li><li>
RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required</li><li>
BCLS - Basic Life Support within the first 30 days of employment required</li><li>
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred</li><li>
ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists preferred</li></ul>
State Specific Requirements<ul><li>
Arkansas: Active and unencumbered Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), or equivalent certification required.</li></ul>
