Job Summary and Qualifications</h5>
Under the general supervision of the Cath Lab Manager/Designee and the general direction of the medical staff the Cardiac Cath Lab Lead Technician is responsible for professional patient care and related assistance to patients experiencing cardiac intervention upon admission to the department. The Cath Lab Technician Lead utilizes the patient care process in ensuring safe and competent quality patient care. The Cath Lab Lead Technician in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory supports the medical care of all patient requiring any cardiac or peripheral intervention under the direction of the medical staff pursuant to the mission and objectives of the hospital. This person ensures a safe environment for the patient and others, appropriately communicates with physicians, co-workers, volunteers, other hospital departments and patient family members. The Cath Lab Technician lead acts to provide care in a competent, effective and cost effective manner.
What you will do in this role:<ul><li>
Identifies and documents patients, family and significant other education needs in collaboration with other disciplines and participates in on-going education.</li><li>
Always acts in the best interests of the patient and their family considering medical problems and treatment precautions. Performs only neurodiagnostic tests that are permitted by the American Society of Electron euro-diagnostic Technologists.</li><li>
Observes all precautions when treating medically compromised patients</li><li>
Quickly and appropriately responds to fire alarms by serving as a member of &ldquo;fire brigade&rdquo;.</li><li>
Maintains an orderly and safe work area.</li><li>
Demonstrates accuracy in the assessment, evaluation and treatment of the patients upon physician orders</li><li>
Considers patient/family goals, home environment, learning needs and support system during evaluation</li><li>
Determines the patient&rsquo;s mental age, mental state and comprehension level.</li><li>
Provides patient care based upon the patient&rsquo;s condition, needs, medical assessment and evaluation.</li><li>
Explain all test procedures including activation procedures, electrode application method (paste, collodion, etc.) to patient/family or significant other.</li><li>
Interact at a level appropriate to all specific age groups</li><li>
Accommodate patient disabilities or special needs. Determines the need for additional physiological monitors.</li><li>

Invasive Radiological Technologist:
ARRT REQUIRED - We will not accept RCIS certs. Certifications ARRT or RCIS, BLS and ACLS<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">
Job Summary:</h3>
The Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist is responsible for assisting physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures such as cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties, and pacemaker implantations. This role involves operating imaging equipment, monitoring patients&rsquo; vital signs, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring patient safety throughout the procedures.<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">
Key Responsibilities:</h3><ul><li>
Prepare the cardiac catheterization lab for procedures, including setting up sterile fields and ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and functional.</li><li>
Assist cardiologists during invasive procedures by handling and operating specialized imaging equipment (e.g., fluoroscopy, X-ray, intravascular ultrasound).</li><li>
Monitor and record patient vital signs and hemodynamic data during procedures.</li><li>
Administer contrast media under physician supervision and observe patient reactions.</li><li>
Ensure proper radiation safety protocols for patients and staff.</li><li>
Maintain accurate records of procedures and patient data in accordance with hospital and regulatory requirements.</li><li>
Perform post-procedure patient care, including monitoring recovery and assisting with transport.</li><li>
Sterilize and maintain cath lab equipment and troubleshoot technical issues.</li><li>
Respond quickly to medical emergencies and operate under sterile and high-pressure conditions.</li><li>
Participate in on-call rotation and be available for emergency procedures outside normal working hours.</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader">
Qualifications:</h3>
Education:<ul><li>
Associate's degree or completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program or Radiologic Technology program.</li></ul>
Licensure/Certification:<ul><li>
ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) certification preferred or required depending on state/hospital.</li><li>
BLS and ACLS certification required.</li></ul>
Experience:<ul><li>
Minimum 1&ndash;2 years of experience in a cath lab, interventional radiology, or similar clinical setting preferred.</li><li>
New graduates may be considered with proper clinical training.</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader">
Skills &amp; Competencies:</h3><ul><li>
Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, electrophysiology, and hemodynamics.</li><li>
Proficiency in operating cath lab equipment and radiation safety practices.</li><li>
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</li><li>
Ability to remain calm in high-stress environments.</li><li>
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.</li><li>
Physical stamina for long procedures and the ability to lift/move patients and equipment.</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader">
Working Conditions:</h3><ul><li>
Work performed in a high-tech, sterile medical environment with exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and radiation.</li><li>
Must be able to stand for long periods and wear lead aprons during procedures.</li><li>
Rotating shifts, including on-call nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.</li></ul>
