Pennsylvania Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Tech to join the 7 Cathcart team. This is a full-time, night shift opportunity.</b></p>
<p>7-Cathcart/7-Preston is a 60-bed medical-surgical unit that cares for a variety of post-operative surgical patients and patients with neurological conditions. Our staff provide direct care and education to patients following upper and lower joint repairs and replacements, neurosurgical procedures ranging from laminectomies and fusions to deep brain stimulator insertions in Parkinson&rsquo;s Disease patients, bariatric surgery, and patients recently experiencing a stroke.</p>
<p>Summary:</p>
<ul><li>Delivers patient care that is patient and family centered. Incorporates team focused, collegial relationships to ensure patient safety and improve outcomes. Maintains organizational competencies of superior quality care, critical thinking and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates accountability to the patient, family, self and the healthcare team. Provides superior quality care and assumes responsibility and accountability for their role in performance outcomes while supporting PAH's Relationship Based Care Model. Reports directly to the Registered Nurse.</li></ul>
<p>Responsibilities:</p>
<ul><li>Customer Service: Answers call bell- intercom system Responsible for the 4P&rsquo;s program of Pain, Positioning, Potty and Perimeter. Performed and measured by hourly rounding Responsible for all aspects of care, which involve the patient environment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: room setup for patient admission, removing of patient care items upon discharge, and general room cleanliness Performs AM care/ PM care as instructed. AM/PM care includes but is not limited to complete/partial and set up bath, mouth/ denture care, hair grooming, facial shave Prepare patient and belongings for discharge Assist patient will all aspects of dietary necessities as follows: Set up meal trays, assists patient with feeding and/ or perform complete patient feed. Perform calorie counts, maintain Aspiration precautions. When applicable, ensure all patients have fresh water pitcher at their bedside. All patients are consistently addressed appropriately by preferred name unless patient has verbally specified another form of address. Float pool covers CV Telemetry (32 beds), Neuro Telemetry (28 beds), and Med/Surg units (29&ndash;32 beds) across two campuses approximately 9 miles apart</li><li>
Travelers are first priority to float and may float to Cardiac Tele, ICU, MedSurg, observation floors, holding areas (including Cath Lab and ER), and between campuses mid-shift</li><li>

 The Emergency Department (ED) Tech Level I is a multi-skilled caregiver who functions under the direction of the professional Registered Nurse. Provides safe, age-appropriate care to the patient by performing the following patient care functions and technical procedures: vital signs, 12-lead EKG, bedside blood sugar testing, superficial wound care, oral suctioning, splint application, instruction of safe ambulation with crutches. Must understand and practice aseptic technique when required: sterile tray preparation, dressing applications and all phlebotomy. Must be able to operate and observe cardiac monitors to ensure recognition of arrhythmias (site specific Kennestone ED), as well as operate pulse oximetry monitors. Requires knowledge of all specialty instruments and trays, including trauma resuscitation equipment and set-up, ENT trays, special procedure trays. Transports patients, unit supplies, equipment, and patient medications. Assures patient care area is appropriately stocked with supplies. Primary work areas include (1) Main Operating Room (Russo OR), (2) Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), and support of all other areas where Anesthesia services are provided (e.g. Labor &amp; Delivery, GI Lab, Cath/EP Lab, IR, etc.). All areas are located on one campus so commuting between sites is needed.

   Performs laboratory tests in the Anesthesia Blood Gas Lab providing lab results to the anesthesia providers.

   Provides technical support to the anesthesia providers and the surgical team.

   Following proper procedures in setting up of transducers. Timeliness in providing required equipment. Following proper procedures in stocking, cleaning and disinfection of anesthesia carts and equipment.

   Completes the anesthesia turnover between cases not delaying the start of following procedures.
