Job Summary:<br>
A credentialed non-licensed health care provider employed by Erlanger Health Care System is responsible for direct and indirect care of patients in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab (CCL) and provide care for patients from other areas when requested. The services they provide are under the direct supervision of licensed team members in the CCL. These service include, but are not limited to patient preparation for procedures, patient transport, patient positioning, room turn-over/cleaning, sheath removal, EKGs, Vital Sign, phlebotomy, establishing a sterile field, sterile table set up, restocking supplies, &amp; inventory management. The cardiovascular technician plays a key role assisting licensed team members with various emergencies associated with the patient population served.

Role Purpose:<br>

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p><p><br>
1. Provides support services necessary for the care, diagnosis and treatments of patients undergoing various</p><p>
procedures in the Cath. Lab.</p><p>
2. Setups and prepares the lab and necessary equipment &amp; supplies for left and right heart catheterizations,</p><p>
diagnostic coronary &amp; peripheral angiography, coronary &amp; peripheral interventions, balloon valvuloplasties,</p><p>
EPS, ablations, pacemaker, CRT-D implantations, IVUS, FFR, IFR, Rot ablator, Impella, drug studies and other</p><p>
special procedures.</p><p>
3. Tests all equipment used for procedures. Ensure accurate calibration, functioning and quality assurance.</p><p>
4. Operates intra-aortic balloon pump, Cardiac Output Computer, pulse generators or any other necessary</p><p>
equipment under the direction of the immediate supervisor and physician.</p><p>
5. Monitors and records patient's vital signs and hemodynamic data during procedures, calculations, and</p><p>
alerts physician to any abnormality.</p><p>
6. Provides physicians with pertinent patient data. Preps for catheterization procedures which include setup</p><p>
and evaluation of monitoring equipments, surgical scrub to the puncture site. Assist during procedures</p><p>
under physician's direction, when required.</p><p>
7. Performs blood sample analysis including blood gases, oxygen saturation, hemoglobin, hematocrit and</p><p>

8. Administers oxygen under physician's direction to the patient when needed.</p><p>
9. Performs CPR when necessary under the direction of physician.</p><p>
10. Assists in the storage and retrieval of all data.</p><p>
11. Assists the physicians in research studies and testing of new equipments and products.</p><p>

Cleans with approved cleaning agent, stocks equipment and outpatient exam area.</p></li><li><p>
Checks crash carts and checks defibrillators daily where applicable.</p></li><li><p>
Investigates client concerns and refers to appropriate staff person.</p></li><li><p>
Hooks up and monitors Stress tests for arrhythmia&rsquo;s and blood pressure abnormalities and notifies Physician or nurse of changes, (including: Dobutamine, Nuclear, Stress Echocardiograms, and Regular Stress).</p></li><li><p>
Applies Holter Monitors, Event Monitors and Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitors (where applicable) and instructs clients in their usage. Loads recorded information into the appropriate computer system, edits, and prints and prepares results for the appropriate Cardiology group to interpret. Notifies Physicians of irregularities as directed.</p></li><li><p>
Performs and records EKG&rsquo;s and leaves results with patient chart. Prepares test results for Physician interpretation as directed. Logs, edits, transcribe and distribute reports as directed.</p></li><li><p>

Qualifications:
