Summary:
Responsible for the pulmonary care of critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under the direction of a physician with minimal supervision. Performs various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures in all areas of the hospital. Performs patient assessments and institutes respiratory care plans.
Responsibilities:

Job Overview

Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor&rsquo;s degree OR;
Degree from an accredited school of Radiologic technologist with Radiology Technologist (RT) Certification.
2. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) Certification.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
1. Prepares the EP Lab for procedures, including setting up the sterile procedure table and ensuring all necessary supplies and apparel are available.
2. Assists in clean up and turnover of room in preparation for following procedure.
3. Assists preparing patient for electrophysiology procedures, including prepping access site(s) and properly draping patient in the fashion that corresponds to the procedure, while maintaining standards of sterility.
4. Sets up, operates, and troubleshoots and maintains Electrophysiology equipment, ensuring their proper functioning during procedures.
5. Among the expected skills to perform these duties:<ul><li>Hemodynamic monitoring</li><li>Scrubbing, prepping and draping for cardiac devices and ablations</li><li>Mapping system and ablation set up</li><li>Operating the recording system and stimulator</li><li>Baseline intracardiac measurements</li><li>Pacing from different catheters for the purpose of checking thresholds</li><li>Burst pacing for arrhythmia induction</li><li>Assessing for pulmonary vein isolation</li><li>Pacing for phrenic nerve capture</li><li>Assessing for bidirectional block across flutter lines</li><li>Pacing for the purpose of entrainment and measurement of post pacing intervals</li><li>Basics of assessing for dual AV nodal physiology and preexcitation</li><li>Measurement of QRS duration and left ventricular activation times for physiologic/conduction system pacing</li><li>Understanding of basics of pacemaker and ICD programmers</li><li>Assessment of lead parameters (sensing, impedance and threshold)</li></ul>
6. Accurately documents procedure charges, supply charges, fluoroscopy time and radiation dose, and contrast dosage.
7. Collaborates with the healthcare team to maintain a sterile environment within the EP lab, adhering to infection control protocols.
8. Ensures proper radiation safety protocols are followed, including use of lead aprons and shielding to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and oneself.
9. Responsible for notifying physician of elevated radiation doses during procedures.
10. Participates in quality assurance initiatives to improve the efficiency and safety of EP procedures.
11. Assists in managing supplies and equipment within the EP lab, ensuring all necessary items are readily available.
12. Participates in the orientation and training of new staff members and collaborate effectively with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
13. Prepares to respond to emergencies and provide immediate assistance during complications or adverse events, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), cardiac defibrillation, and artificial respiration.
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to work within the semi-restricted and restricted environment of the Operating Room and other Perioperative support areas.
2. Stands under hot surgical lights for prolonged periods of time.
3. Possibility of muscle strain from lifting patients and heavy equipment, shocks and burns from cautery units and autoclaves.
4. Frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals, blood and bodily fluids, extreme noise levels, radiation, lasers, drastic fluctuations in ambient temperature, etc.
5. Ability to wear a protective lead apron for extended periods of time and exposure to radioactivity, harmful anesthesia gases and septic infections.
6. Requires frequent lifting and positioning of patients, materials, equipment, power tools, instruments, etc.
7. Frequent contacts with patients, physicians and nursing staff in Operating Room.
8. Possibility of cuts from sharp instruments.

1. Willingness to participate in late shift rotations as required.
2. Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
3. Attention to detail and unwavering commitment to patient safety.
