Or Technologist Registry OR Respiratory Therapist-licensed by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board (NCRCB) AND Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) as RRT. OR Registered Cardiac Invasive Specialist, Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist, Cardiovascular Tech, and Vascular Intervention-graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Program. If the Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CIS) is not an RN or an RTR with CI or VI certification, they must obtain either the Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) credential within 24 months of hire, or as soon as the minimum case volume required to sit for the exam is completed, whichever occurs first, for continued employment, required.</li><li>
Additional Skills (required): Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skill validation and competency testing.Pass yearly Cardiac Dysrhythmias Test.</li></ul>

Job Summary and Qualifications</h5>
General Statement of Duties:
The Cardiac Cath Lab Invasive Specialist- Certified plays multiple roles on the Cardiac Cath Lab team as the Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist during Cardiac Catheterization procedures. In both roles he/she demonstrates technical proficiency in all Cardiac Cath Lab procedures and equipment; applies anatomical and physiological knowledge to proficiently assist the Cardiologist or Electrophysiologist with providing cardiac patient care. As the Invasive Specialist he/she maintains good communication with the Cath Lab team to ensure proper equipment set up, accurate monitoring, and quality data collection.
Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics:
1. Education and Experience: All of the following: &bull; High School graduate or GED
2. New hires as of 6/1/2013 have to have ONE of the following:<ul><li>
One (1) year fulltime Invasive Cardiovascular Technology experience.</li><li>
An Associate Degree or equivalent college hours (62 semester hours) in health, science, natural science, nursing, engineering or any primary science or higher.</li><li>
Graduate of an accredited (by CHEA, USDOE, or CMA) program in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology.</li><li>
Graduate of a NON-Programmatically accredited program in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology which has a minimum of one (1) year of specialty training and includes a minimum of 800 clinical hours.</li></ul>
3. Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable). Includes specific competency in:<ul><li>
Diagnostic Cardiac Catheterization</li><li>
Peripheral Angiography</li><li>
PTCA, Stent implantation</li><li>
Aspiration/Extraction devices</li><li>
Distal Embolization Protection devices, PTA and Peripheral Stent implantation</li><li>
Vascular Closure devices</li><li>
Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump</li><li>
Temporary Transvenous Pacing</li><li>
Implantable Defibrillators/Pacemakers all of which can occur on an Elective/Emergent basis preferred.</li><li>
Various interventional radiology procedures</li></ul>
4. Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
5. Preferred: Two (2) year (fulltime or fulltime equivalent) in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology.
6. Preferred: Baccalaureate in health, science, natural science or nursing, engineering or any primary science AND six (6) months of (fulltime or fulltime equivalent) in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology.
Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required:
1. Required (must hold one of the following credentials):
ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) OR
2. Must have ONE of the below listed certifications: Current certification eligible Cath Lab Technicians must successfully pass RCIS/RCES exam in 24 months from start date.<ul><li>
RCIS (Registered Cardiac Invasive Specialist) from CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International)</li><li>
RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR</li></ul>
3. Certified Surgical Tech or Registered Respiratory Therapist OR

EMT-B (Basic) / EMT-P (Paramedic)</li><li>
Military EMT equivalent with 10+ years experience</li></ul>
Essential Job Functions:
1. Demonstrates technical proficiency for all cardiac catheterization procedures while functioning in a primary role as a Cardiac Cath Lab Invasive Specialist.
2. Consistently and correctly identifies cardiac structures, coronary vasculature, and the associated disease processes.
3. Practices radiation safety and observes all principles to ALARA. This includes a good knowledge of all regulations and requirements set forth by the Texas Bureau of Radiation Control and the Methodist Radiation Safety Committee and the proper use and storage of personal radiation badge.
4. Assists the physician in obtaining or entering data into the Physiologic Monitoring System(s) for accurate assessment of left and/or right-sided Hemodynamic pressure measurements. Assures accurate information is gathered or entered for the calculation of intra-cardiac shunts, valve areas, and pressure measurements throughout the catheter path.
5. Accurately reports Ejection Fraction by demonstrating proficiency in the assessment of Cardiac function, utilizing Left Ventricular Analysis program(s). Understands the disease processes that result in depressed Cardiac function such as: Coronary Artery Disease, Cardiomyopathy, Myocardial Infarction, Valvular disorders, etc.
6. Consistently assures that Angiographic and procedural data is properly archived for long-term storage. Verifies the presence of all components of procedure information in both hard copy and computerized formats.
Additional Job Functions:
1. May have access to contrast agents and other non-controlled medications as appropriate to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
2. Takes &ldquo;Call&rdquo; on a rotating basis.

4. Job Summary and Qualifications</h5> 
Cath Lab Technicians are Cardiovascular Technologists who work in our facilities and run tests on heart health. They assist with the insertion of catheters into the heart and are responsible for measuring and administering special fluids. 
What you will do in this role: 
 
 
<ul><li>Under the general supervision of the Cath Lab Supervisor and the CV Services Director, the Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist, in cooperation with the physicians and nursing personnel, assists with diagnostic and therapeutic invasive cardiology patient procedures in the catheterization labs.
</li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of radiographic imaging, patient physiologic monitoring and cardiac arrhythmias recognition.
</li><li>Complies with principles of sterile techniques.
</li><li>Collects and assembles data for database, outcome analysis and performance improvement.
</li><li>Responsible for carrying out any other activities assigned by the Cath Lab Supervisor or CV Services Director to ensure the department runs effectively and efficiently.
</li><li>The Cath Lab Tech must participate in the on-call rotation and respond within 30 minutes to the Cath Lab when on call.</li></ul> 
What qualifications you will need: 
 
 
<ul><li>Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist program or Invasive Cardiovascular Technology program preferred.
</li><li>Two years of current experience in Cath lab may be substituted for completion of Radiology Technologist program or invasive cardiovascular technologist (CVT) program completion.</li><li>
Current BCLS certification required within 30 days of start date and maintained.
</li><li>ACLS certification required within 6 months of employment.
</li><li>Active RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) or RT licensure preferred.

Job Summary 
 
The Cath Lab Technician is responsible for assisting physicians during cardiac catheterization procedures and other interventional procedures to diagnose and treat cardiovascular conditions. This role involves preparing and maintaining equipment, monitoring patients during procedures, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. The Cath Lab Technician plays a key role in supporting the efficiency and effectiveness of the cardiac catheterization laboratory. 
 
Essential Functions<ul><li>
Prepares the cardiac catheterization laboratory for procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and functioning properly.</li><li>
Assists physicians during procedures by operating specialized equipment, such as fluoroscopy machines, intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), or hemodynamic monitoring systems.</li><li>
Monitors patients' vital signs during procedures, documenting data and promptly reporting any abnormalities to the physician or clinical team.</li><li>
Prepares patients for procedures by positioning, draping, and explaining the process to alleviate anxiety and ensure compliance.</li><li>
Ensures accurate and complete documentation of procedures, patient data, and equipment usage in compliance with departmental policies.</li><li>
Adheres to radiation safety protocols and infection control guidelines to ensure patient and staff safety.</li><li>
Assists in the administration of contrast media and medications under the direction of the physician.</li><li>
Participates in quality improvement activities and assists in maintaining accreditation standards for the Cath Lab.</li><li>

Documentation of 2-3 years of Cath Laboratory work experience preferred. Current BLS certification required.POSITION SUMMARY: Assists physicians during invasive and noninvasive procedures. Assists in pre-procedural and post-procedural care, as appropriate, providing patient care. Operates all equipment safely and correctly. Maintains inventory and orders supplies. Ensures the Cardiovascular Cath Laboratory team's needs are met. Job Summary and Qualifications</h5>
Serves in the capacity of the Cardiovascular Technician; assisting in patient care through procedures. Directly involved inassisting with Cath Lab, EP, and Vascular procedures and the development of protocols. Cross trains cath lab staff to other procedural areas to achieve a level of comfort in working with the new procedures and meet developed competencies that are developed.
 Your responsibilities will include:
<ul><li>Assisting physicians with complex cardiac and vascular procedures, including angiograms, angioplasties, and stent placements</li></ul><ul><li>
Preparing and supporting patients and families with care, education, and reassurance before, during, and after procedures</li></ul><ul><li>
Operating and maintaining advanced equipment to deliver safe and effective treatment</li></ul><ul><li>
Monitoring patient responses with vigilance and compassion to ensure the highest level of care</li></ul><ul><li>
Safeguarding a sterile, safe environment while serving as an advocate for every patient</li></ul><h6 class="jobSectionHeader">
What qualifications you will need:</h6><ul><li> 
A graduate of an accredited program in Cardiovascular Technology required or a graduate of a degree granting program in a health science (includes, but not limited to, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, nursing or paramedic) with a current certification or registration required.</li><li>
A current certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) required</li><li>

As a Cath Lab Tech at MercyOne Genesis, you will: 
<ul>
<li>Assist the physician with imaging during diagnosis and treatment of cardiac cath lab patients of diverse ages</li>
<li>Ensure quality of imaging and image acquisition, DSA, and hemodynamic monitoring as well as radiation safety practices used for patients and personnel</li>
<li>Be proficient with aseptic technique and assists physician with scrubbing during procedure</li>
<li>Transport patients to and from the cath lab</li>
<li>Assist with technical utilization of physiologic monitoring/data devices in the cath lab, calibrate physiologic and monitoring devices, prepare appropriate forms to document procedural data</li>
</ul>
Schedule: 
<ul>
<li>40 hrs a week</li>
<li>10 hour shifts</li>
</ul>
General Requirements: 
<ul>
<li>Completion of a two-year training program in radiologic technology and ARRT registry, with a valid Iowa Radiology technologist permit to practice, OR a graduate of Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification program OR an Advanced medical training degree (Associate of Science degree or Associate’s degree in paramedic, or Allied Health Profession)</li>
<li>Basic EKG monitoring class preferred</li>
<li>Basic Life Support required within 3 months of hire</li>
<li>ACLS preferred required within 6 months of hire</li>
<li>Mandatory Reporter required within 3 months of hire</li>
<li>2 years experience required</li>
