Responsibilities 
Assists in performing all duties associated with preparing, performing, and completing a diagnostic and/or interventional angiographic procedure under the supervision of a physician. Requires competence in a variety of equipment and technology including TAVR, Mitral Clip, Watchman, PFO closure, atherectomy devices, thrombectomy devices, IVUS, FFR, iFR, IABP, and Impella. Responsible for all aspects of patient care that are in accordance with the hospital and department policies. Practices safety guidelines for patients, colleagues, support personnel, and self. Fosters teamwork through effective communication and flexibility in job duties. 2-3 years of experience preferred. 
Qualifications<ul><li> 
Graduate from an accredited cardiovascular program or radiology program with cardiac experience.</li><li>Cath lab or EP lab experience is preferred but not required for those with cardiac education background.</li><li>Experience: Two years in either Cath or EP is preferred, but not required.</li><li>Qualities: Organized, efficient, team-based attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to demonstrate effective communication.</li><li>Requirements: Ability to work varied hours and shifts.</li><li>License or Certification: ACLS &amp; BLS. CVT or RTR. Must obtain RCIS within six months of hire. RCES is required after 2 years of EP experience.</li></ul>

Job Summary and Qualifications</h5> 
Cath Lab Technicians are Cardiovascular Technologists who work in our facilities and run tests on heart health. They assist with the insertion of catheters into the heart and are responsible for measuring and administering special fluids. 
What you will do in this role: 
 
 
<ul><li>Under the general supervision of the Cath Lab Supervisor and the CV Services Director, the Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist, in cooperation with the physicians and nursing personnel, assists with diagnostic and therapeutic invasive cardiology patient procedures in the catheterization labs.
</li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of radiographic imaging, patient physiologic monitoring and cardiac arrhythmias recognition.
</li><li>Complies with principles of sterile techniques.

</li><li>Responsible for carrying out any other activities assigned by the Cath Lab Supervisor or CV Services Director to ensure the department runs effectively and efficiently.

Education
Required &ndash; High school diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
Required - 1 year radiology and angiography experience in order to become familiar with cardiovascular procedures
Certifications
Required - Registered Radiologic Technologist or Registered Cardiovascular Technologist 
Current Louisiana and ARRT license
Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association
Advanced Cardiac Life Support through the American Heart Association can be obtained after hired.
Preferred - RCIS certification
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)<ul><li>
Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.</li><li>
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.</li><li>
Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.</li><li>
Strong interpersonal skills.</li><li>
Detail-oriented; experience performing complex tasks which may be hazardous to the patient's welfare and skills to detect equipment malfunctions.</li><li>
Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with a diverse group of internal/external visitors in a highly stressful atmosphere.</li><li>
An interest and curiosity to learn new procedures.</li><li>
Knowledge of Heart and Vascular catheterization.
Job Duties</li></ul><ul><li>
Operates monitoring and recording devices under physician direction to obtain necessary medical data and ensure patient safety.</li><li>
Operates Radiographic fluoroscopy equipment to obtain diagnostic images of coronary artery disease and peripheral vascular disease.</li><li>
Orders equipment in a timely and cost-efficient manner.</li><li>
Turns on all of the radiographic equipment in the AM.</li><li>
Assists nurse in checking patient in.</li><li>
Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.</li><li>
Other related duties as required.</li></ul>

Must be able to move throughout and between facilities.

Must be able to work flexible schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).
Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.
