The Cemetery Caretaker is responsible for the overall appearance of cemetery, mausoleum, and funeral home locations, including maintenance and grounds keeping, locating grave sites, digging graves, installing crypt faces, memorials, monuments, conducting interments, entombments and inurnments, and repairs and maintenance tasks. Depending on the location to which the employee is assigned, individual responsibilities may include some, or all, of the following activities: grounds keeping, interment/memorialization, and facilities cleaning/maintenance. An employee&rsquo;s position assignment will be based on demonstrated competence in the skills required for the next level in the job family.
Responsibilities
<ul><li>Grounds Keeping:
<ul><li>Cuts grass.</li>
<li>Maintains lawn and trims around trees, walkways, and memorial markers</li>
<li>Lays sod</li>
<li>Moves and removes flowers to and from the chapel and graveside.</li>
<li>Blows leaf and grass</li>
<li>Edges with stick edger</li>
<li>Clears debris and maintains drives and walkways in a safe condition.</li>
<li>Cleans ponds and fountains</li>
<li>Hand digs/trenching</li>

<ul><li>Maintains overall appearance and cleanliness of funeral homes and/or mausoleum facilities.</li>

General Description.

A skilled laborer is an hourly-rated skilled craft position that performs skilled work in connection with heavy, civil construction projects involving roads, bridges and highways. Will assist construction and/or paving crew with various duties including, but not limited to: shoveling and raking, running wheelbarrow, operating small power tools such as jackhammer and assists in the placement, moving, and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic devices, Will perform other duties as assigned.

Key Duties.
<ul>
<li>Requires little independent judgment.</li>
<li>Measures distance from grade stakes, drives stakes, and stretches tight line.</li>
<li>Bolts, nails, aligns, and block up under forms.</li>
<li>Signals operators of construction or asphalt equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.</li>
<li>Level earth or asphalt to grade specifications, using picks, shovels and rakes.</li>
<li>Mixes concrete and applies caulking compounds.</li>
<li>Variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools, such as sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing projections from concrete, and mounting pipe hangers.</li>
<li>Perform incidental work items and duties included within other crafts.</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned.</li>
