Position Overview:
The CNA is a member of the community nursing team whose responsibility is to assist professional nursing personnel by delivering direct hands-on nursing care to ambulatory and non-ambulatory residents on a daily basis. The CNA is also responsible for assisting the residents to achieve the highest level of functioning while living as normal a lifestyle as possible.
Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>To perform or assist the resident with completing Activities of Daily Living (ADL).</li><li>Respond to residents call lights to provide maximum comfort, safety and privacy.</li><li>Transport residents by ambulation or by wheelchair to areas of community (dining room, lobby and activities).</li><li>Report any significant findings/observations to nurse immediately.</li><li>Assist residents on admission, transfer and discharge to make a smooth transition.</li><li>Responsible for the safekeeping of residents&rsquo; personal possessions.</li><li>Keep resident rooms neat and safe.</li><li>Follow proper infection control techniques</li><li>Respect the rights of each resident, particularly privacy and confidentiality.</li><li>Re-teach resident to perform ADL skills.</li><li>Provide restorative care to prevent pressure sores, contractures, and complications.</li><li>Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement and ensures follow-up occurs.</li><li>Converse with resident and family; assist them on adjustment to the community.</li><li>Ensure adequate hydration and nutrition of resident; report deviations from norm to the Charge Nurse promptly.</li><li>Perform blood pressure, pulse, respirations, intake/output and weights accurately.</li></ul>
Qualifications:<ul><li>Certified and state tested as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state employed; certificate must be active, valid, and in good standing.</li></ul>
