Job Summary</b></p>
A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is responsible for the pre-operative, intra-operative, and immediate post-operative care of the patient requiring anesthesia for surgical, medical, therapeutic, or diagnostic procedures. This care includes, but is not limited to, pre-operative assessments, anesthetic care plans, assembly and care of specialized equipment; application, insertion and interpretation of data from anesthetic monitors; airway management; delivery of general, regional anesthesia, and monitored anesthetic care; induction, maintenance, and emergence of the patient; care of the patient in the immediate post-operative setting; and post-operative assessments in collaboration with a physician member of the Department of Anesthesiology. These services are rendered in the main operating rooms, Labor and Delivery, and designated &quot;Out of OR&quot; anesthesia locations (i.e., Radiology, MRT, etc.) CRNAs also fulfill a teaching function for the Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists that rotate to the BWH from Northeastern University for their clinical experience. Clinical research may be available as an adjunct for the CRNA who is interested in that area of practice, depending on protocols available, but it is not a department requirement, nor is it usually sponsored by the anesthesia department. <ul><li>In collaboration with the Program Director, Dean, Associate Deans, and other Directors, participate in strategic, institutional, financial, resource, and service planning for the program and School.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Participate in the development of and ensure compliance with policies and procedures that are consistent with the overall mission of the program and in compliance with accreditation standards and other regulatory agencies.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Oversee recruitment and enrollment of students who, by academic and experiential achievement, are of the quality appropriate for the profession and may benefit from their education.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Promote professional development and contribute to annual faculty evaluations within the program.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Lead the program&rsquo;s systematic plan of assessment, including the use of evaluation data from students, faculty, alumni, and employers of graduates.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Lead and coordinate program activities that ensure stated program goals are achieved.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Oversee management of accurate records of the program&rsquo;s educational activities.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Engage in clinical practice to maintain professional skills and serve as a model/resource for faculty and students.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Create a program environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Travel to off-sites for clinical site visits per COA standards.</li></ul>
