Position Summary
The Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer and plays a key role in the finance function of The Galloway
 
School (&ldquo;Galloway&rdquo;). The Controller is responsible for financial reporting and accounting operations, including
 
the preparation of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP, across a budget of approximately $25
 
million. The role includes responsibility for general accounting and review of payroll, and oversight of accounts
 
payable and accounts receivable.
The Controller works closely with school leadership and department teams to support sound financial
 
management and provide clear, relevant financial information, while recommending and administering
 
accounting policies and procedures and maintaining a comprehensive system of internal controls designed to
 
safeguard Galloway&rsquo;s assets.
This is a hands-on role that requires both attention to detail and the ability to operate at a higher level,
 
balancing routine monthly close activities and reconciliations with more complex analysis and special projects.
 
Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to present financial information to senior
 
leadership and board-level committees. The role also supports selected operational areas, including insurance,
 
risk management, and auxiliary functions.
 
 
Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will hold a CPA license and a bachelor&rsquo;s degree in accounting. Candidates must
 
demonstrate a minimum of five years of experience in financial reporting under U.S. GAAP and managing the
 
financial close process, preferably in a not-for-profit setting, including strong experience in fund accounting and
 
the accounting for restricted and designated funds. Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to lead and
 
develop a high-performing team through mentoring and training and fostering a positive and supportive work
 
environment.
 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
<ul><li>Develop and maintain appropriate systems of internal control to ensure accurate financial reporting and

<ul><li>Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, including variance analysis and related
</li></ul>commentary.
<ul><li>Prepare year-end financial statements and related disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
</li></ul>&bull; Prepare and post general ledger journal entries and complete key account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy
and completeness.
 
&bull; Maintain fixed asset accounting, including related activity and supporting schedules.
 
&bull; Support the annual budgeting process and ongoing monitoring of results against budget, including
identification and explanation of key variances.
 
&bull; Coordinate and oversee the annual financial statement audit, annual retirement plan audit, and Form 990
preparation, ensuring all required supporting documentation is prepared and available in a timely manner.
 
&bull; Liaise with the School&rsquo;s auditors in connection with the 403(b) plan financial statements and oversee the
preparation and filing of Form 5500.
 
&bull; Complete and submit periodic surveys and compliance reports for school industry organizations (e.g., NAIS,
SAIS, NBOA, INDEX) and other stakeholders.

The Controller is responsible for the overall management, accuracy, and efficiency of Ritter Center&rsquo;s accounting operations. This role ensures the integrity of financial reporting, leads the month-end close process, and establishes strong internal controls and scalable processes to support organizational growth.
The Controller serves as the operational leader of the accounting function, translating strategic direction from the CFO into effective day-to-day execution.
This is a highly hands-on role in a developing environment.  Position Summary:
 
 The Controller works directly with the Club&rsquo;s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), assisting in the daily accounting operations of the Club.&nbsp;This is a hands-on position that requires detailed experience in all aspects of accounting, including accounts receivable and payable, general ledger and financial reporting, internal audit functions, and cash flow management.&nbsp;Assists CFO on all strategic matters including budget management, forecasting, internal control, capital reporting and long range planning, and data analysis and reporting. About the Job:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller is responsible for managing the organization&rsquo;s day-to-day ﬁnancial and accounting functions, and designing and implementing policies, procedures, and a system of internal controls to comply with regulatory requirements and safeguard the assets of Craft3. The Controller is responsible for coordinating and preparing the organization&rsquo;s internal and external ﬁnancial statements, supporting presentations to executive leadership and the Board of Directors as well as ensuring compliance with ﬁnancial covenants. The Controller is also responsible for collaborating with Craft3&rsquo;s independent accountants to help ensure the successful audit of its ﬁnancial statements and completion of its tax and information returns. 
The Controller partners with the CFO to manage a distributed accounting team that works independently from remote locations. Regular communication and mentorship are of vital importance in managing and motivating the team, recognizing their accomplishments and delivering accuracy and high-quality performance.

Accounting Leadership:<ul><li>
 Day-to-day management of ﬁnancial and accounting operations, including payroll, accounts payable and receivable.</li><li>
Design and implementation of policies, procedures and a system of internal controls consistent with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and provide timely notiﬁcation to CFO of any required or planned changes.</li><li>
Ensure timely issuance of monthly and quarterly ﬁnancial statements in accordance with established policies and compliance-related obligations. Accounting for and reporting of loans receivable and allowance for loan losses, consistent with current expected credit losses (CECL) methodology and GAAP.</li><li>
Maintain knowledge of and ensure accurate fund accounting and grant accounting as utilized by not-for-proﬁt entities.</li><li>
Manage annual NFP, FI, and Single audits ensuring completion within the timeframe required by debt covenants.</li><li>
Ensure timely issuance of the audited consolidated ﬁnancial statements in accordance with established policies and compliance-related obligations, and without material adjustments or material weaknesses in internal controls.</li><li>
 Ensure timely ﬁling of federal, state and local tax and information returns, in consultation with tax accountants.</li><li>

Knowledge and Experience:<ul><li>
