Job Description</h2>
Allied Universal&reg; is hiring a Special Investigations Unit (SIU) Investigator. Special Investigations Unit (SIU) Specialists investigate claims with red flags that suggest fraudulent behavior In relation to an Insurance claim. The SIU Specialist must use their extensive knowledge of Insurance policies and the components of fraud to determine If claims warrant reporting to the appropriate state agency for prosecution. 
<ul><li>Must possess a valid driver's license with at least one year of driving experience</li><li>
Florida applicants must either hold a C Private Investigators' License or independently complete the 40-hour course necessary to successfully apply for a CC Private Investigator's license (apprenticeship) before applying</li></ul> 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul><li>Independently investigate suspected fraudulent insurance claims for a variety of coverage to include workers' compensation, general liability, property and casualty and disability</li>
<li>Acquire and gather information through use of own discretion, and guidance from clients and case managers, by means of data collection, interviews, research and collaboration with other SIU entities, law enforcement and state Departments of Insurance</li>
<li>Create and maintain detailed documentation for investigations, file reviews, audits, training tasks, consulting projects, and other assignments as directed</li>
<li>Produce professional and expert reports, memos, and letters that are clear, concise, and grammatically correct</li>
<li>Run appropriate database indices if necessary and verify the accuracy of results found</li>
<li>Independently develop a strategic plan to achieve assignment objectives, ensuring thorough documentation and effective communication with clients and their Special Investigation Unit Supervisor</li></ul>
QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):
<ul><li>Must possess one or more of the following:</li><li><ul><li>
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice</li>
<li>High School diploma or higher with a minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated professional law enforcement experience with specific attention to investigations related to fraud</li></ul></li><li>
Ability to be properly licensed as a Private Investigator as required by the state where work Is completed</li>
<li>Post offer, must be able to successfully complete the Allied Universal Investigations training/orientation course</li>

 Position Purpose
 
 
 
 As a member of the Central Investigation Team (CIT), the Central Investigator is responsible for the direction and support of Organized Retail Fraud (ORC) investigations theft and fraud investigations within a specified area of the company. The CIT will work with various business partners (IT, Internal Audit, RDO's, DOM's, Store Ops, APM's and APS') and leverage all available investigative tools to eliminate and reduce company exposure to associate and external theft. Key responsibilities include: analyzing information, determination of exception data to drive investigation, communication and coordination of information to field teams and other partners and management of the investigative process. Coordination with law enforcement to ensure effective prosecution and restitution recovery The Central Investigator will collaborate, coordination with IT to develop new exception data, management of remote CCTV viewing to support investigative efforts, and case trend analysis to drive performance and to make recommendations to mitigate theft exposure. The CIT must be able to manage multiple tasks and to gain buy in and support of multiple partners to ensure a successful investigation process within their area of responsibility. The CIT must be effective at training and coaching, as they will support the field in understanding development of the investigative skill sets theft exposures within their area of responsibility. The CIT must have strong analytical and problem solving skills, as they will make recommendations to business partners for the elimination of procedural/policy issues that increase theft exposure. The CIT will report directly to the Manager of Central Investigations and will work in a collaborative team environment with the entire CIT Team.

 30% Leveraging store systems and data query models to isolate theft and fraud indicators. Utilize information from systems reports and databases to identify and communicate criminal activity impacting company assets. Utilizes multiple data sources, E-Platforms and Social Media to help identify theft trends.

 25% Execution of CCTV Alerts and SSC generated alerts to identify, internal and external theft through mitigating opportunities. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with HR to resolve associate issues related to theft and fraud. Develop partnership with APMs' and APS' to drive theft and fraud elimination.

 25% Packaging and Building cases. Updates case management and initiates quality case leads for investigation, providing actionable data and investigative support. Coordinates documentation and video. Provides weekly updates to manager on case load and case management efforts.

Investigates reports of abuse, neglect or exploitation of elderly or disabled adults to assess the urgency of the problem by interviewing clients, family members and other to gather social, functional, physical and mental- emotional information for evaluation.</li><li>
Provides services after normal working hours and on weekends to maintain 24 hour coverage, including receiving reports of alleged abuse, neglect or exploitation.</li><li>
Determines temporary or long-term action to be taken to remove or lessen an immediate threat to the life or health of an adult protective services client to include counseling clients and caregivers, providing information and referral services, testifying in court to seek emergency protective services, finding alternate housing when necessary, and providing on-going services.</li><li>
Develops individualized service plans to meet the needs of the adult protective services client and maintains detailed documentation on each case.</li><li>
Makes presentations and participates in community awareness and related activities to inform the public about the program.</li><li>
Prepares routine, statistical, and special reports for management.</li><li>
Serves in lead capacity in absence of supervisor.</li><li>

This position may be filled at any level from an APS Specialist I to APS Specialist IV. Factors such as education and experience may be considered when establishing the starting salary; however, the starting salary for this position may not exceed the maximum of the pay group.

The APS Professional Education Program reimburses eligible staff for the cost of tuition and fees up to $10,500 per fiscal year. An applicant must be an APS employee and must have one year of full-time continuous APS employment before the date of the application is due. To be eligible, you must be enrolled in a bachelor&rsquo;s or master&rsquo;s program that is relevant to APS work and any position within APS can apply.
Business-related travel is reimbursed at the state-approved mileage rate and according to DFPS policy.
APS Investigator Specialists are mobile caseworkers. Mobile casework is not the same as working from home. APS Investigator Specialists spend the majority of their workday &ldquo;in the field&rdquo; conducting home visits to interview clients and alleged perpetrators. Although each workday may begin and end at home, APS Investigator Specialists are expected to be in the field making visits and engaging the community every day.
This role requires frequent travel to homes and offices both within and outside your assigned region. Reliable transportation and a strong willingness to travel are essential, as you can expect to be on the road about 60% of the time. While much of your travel will be local, there will be instances&mdash;including last-minute situations&mdash;where you&rsquo;ll need to go outside your assigned counties, sometimes with little notice. Some overnight travel is also required, especially during initial training held outside your area and as cases demand. Flexibility is critical, as our mission to protect the most vulnerable means you must be ready to serve clients wherever and whenever you are needed.
