Nature of Work 
The fundamental reason this position exists is to manage and supervise the Airport Police Department and all aviation security related matters in support of the Airport Security Program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develops and implements airport emergency response plans and coordinates law enforcement responses to security incidents, emergencies, and criminal activities.</li><li>
Supervises and evaluates sworn police officers and support personnel, including assigning work, monitoring performance, and administering discipline when necessary.</li><li>
Oversees recruitment, training, and professional development of departmental personnel.</li><li>
Develops departmental policies, procedures, and operational strategies to ensure effective law enforcement and security operations.</li><li>
Coordinates with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies on joint operations, investigations, and security initiatives.</li><li>
Oversees criminal investigations, incident reporting, and evidence management processes.</li><li>
Prepares and administers departmental budgets and monitors expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility.</li><li>

Minimum Qualifications 
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related degree and ten (10) years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience and five (5) years of command-level leadership experience. 
 
Airport law enforcement experience is desired. 
 
NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered. 
 
Special Requirements<ul><li>
Must meet the Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (APOST) Continuing Education Unit requirements for certification as a law enforcement officer in the State of Alabama. Must maintain the certification throughout employment.</li><li>

 Current Texas Peace Officer license in good standing; ability to maintain required
