<div><p>The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry inpatient unit (1JPW) is looking for an experienced <b>Behavioral Health Consultant</b> to assist in program development, assessment, and behavioral treatment for individuals with severe challenging behaviors. Patients may have a history of mental illnesses, intellectual disabilities, or medical illnesses that make them vulnerable.</p><p><b>
Child &amp; Adolescent Psychiatry (1JPW):</b></p><p>
The 1JPW unit is a 15-bed inpatient unit dedicated to psychiatric evaluation and care of child and adolescent patients (3-17 years old). Patients on the child and adolescent unit experience depression, anxiety, eating disorders, intellectual disabilities, substance use disorders, and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. Members of a full complement of professionals provide structured therapy, including dialectical behavior therapy. A unique unit design incorporates Circle School, gymnasium, and outdoor activities to improve patient experience and outcomes.</p><p><b>
Position Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li>
Prepares for individual patient contacts and assessments through review of medical charts and pre-appointment contact with patient, family, and caregivers. Prepares intake summary information for the inpatient unit.</li><li>
Identifies behavior goals for hospitalization, assist team in the development of behavior programming and data collection. Reviews data with psychologist as necessary and develops additional assessment and treatment plans.</li><li>
Assists in gathering objective data for behavioral assessment and treatment implementation.</li><li>
Actively involved in implementing behavior treatment on the unit and coaching staff with frequent involvement in prevention of challenging behaviors, de-escalation and crisis management.</li><li>
Coordinates behavior programming with interdisciplinary team members. Consults with interdisciplinary team members and provides training for staff as appropriate.</li><li>
Completes literature reviews and continuing education in the area of applied behavior analysis and dialectical behavior therapy.</li><li>
Must be able to effectively prevent and de-escalate potential crisis situations following training and support from interdisciplinary team. Consultant will regularly be working in situations where physical aggression and property destruction will occur.</li><li>
Assures quality in program delivery through collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.</li><li>

Coordinate all activities of a clinical research study to ensure adherence to protocol and validity of findings.
</li><li>Participate in clinical study start-up meetings.
</li><li>Assist research nurses, study coordinators, principal investigators, and other study personnel in executing protocol-related activities.</li><li>
Explain the study background and rationale for the research to potential and current participants.</li><li>
Contribute to the development of recruitment strategies for participants for assigned study.
</li><li>Implement a variety of techniques for recruitment as appropriate, e.g., print and web-based advertisements, contact referring physicians, participate in community events, etc.
</li><li>Independently conduct the consenting process or ensure consent is obtained on appropriate participants.
</li><li>Schedule participants for required activities and provide any special instructions prior to upcoming tests/exams.</li><li>
Serve as liaison to study participants.</li><li>
Assist with setup of the data collection system and enter and organize data.</li><li>
Assist in coordinating study meetings.</li><li>
Participate in study meetings and provide updates on protocol implementation status and make recommendations on operational issues.</li><li>
Assist with the preparation of submissions to the Institutional Review Board (IRB).</li><li>
Liaison with IRB on administrative matters and facilitate communications with the PI.</li><li>
Conduct literature searches to provide background information.
</li><li>Obtain and maintain excellent operating knowledge of assigned clinical protocol, clinical equipment, and clinical computer systems.
</li><li>Oversee budget expenditures for study operations.</li><li>

Minimum Qualifications</b><br>

Bachelor's Degree in a related field.</li><li>
Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.</li></ul><br>

Preferred Qualifications</b><br>
<ul><li>
Master's Degree in nutrition or related field.</li><li>
Experience in research in nutrition and neuroscience.</li></ul><p></p><p><br>
