The Operations Specialist is a child welfare professional with related experience in case reviews, staffing facilitation, training, and case management operations. This position is responsible for providing guidance and support to case management teams.</p>

<li>Provides mentorship, guidance, and coaching to pre-service trainees and provisional case managers in preparation for successful child welfare certification.</li>
<li>Assist in analyzing outcome data and preparation of reports for submission to the Management team and community groups as necessary.</li>
<li>Provide technical assistance and support for the preparation and results of external monitorings (ie., Department of Children and Families, Medicaid, ASFA, Title IV-E, etc.)</li>

Minimum of three years of Florida child welfare experience is required as well as experience working in Florida Safe Families Network (FSFN) Integrated Child Welfare Information System. Supervisory experience preferred.</p>

Possess knowledge of statutes, contract terms, data analysis, and performance standards. Ability to analyze data and trends, apply that information to accepted standards, and create written reports and presentations. Must be detail-oriented, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer experience in a Windows environment, Microsoft Office (Excel, WORD, POWERPOINT), ability to learn and utilize other software programs (such as FSFN and CoBRIS). Ability to apply data tables to charts, trend reports, and other data analysis tracking systems.</p>

Evening hours may be necessary to accommodate the needs of assigned families. This position also requires participation in an on-call rotation, which includes weeknights, weekends, and holidays.

</b></p><p>As a CFSS, you will sometimes enter homes that are in poor or unsanitary conditions and may encounter emotionally difficult situations. Worker safety is a top priority, and training and protocols are in place to prepare and support staff in the field.
</p><p>You must be able to engage effectively with children and adults from diverse backgrounds, including those experiencing crisis, trauma, or instability. In some situations, you may be required to care for children temporarily while coordinating their transition to safe and appropriate placements.

The City of Chesapeake Department of Human Services is seeking experienced Child Protective Services (CPS) Family Services Specialists that under the supervision of a Family Services Supervisor will be responsible for case management duties associated with conducting CPS assessments and investigations.<br>

<b>The selected candidate will:</b>
</div><ul><li>Investigate CPS referrals concerning allegations of child abuse/neglect, assess child safety and risk utilizing a variety of structured decision-making tools, interviews, and observations.</li>
<li>Prepare court documents related to child safety and appear in a variety of court hearings to testify in cases.</li>
<li>Make sound decisions pertaining to child safety to include removing children from their home and placing children with relatives or in foster care.</li>
<li>Collaborate with law enforcement, mental health professionals, and emergency medical services partners when conducting CPS investigations and assessments.</li>

<li>Conducts pre-service foster parent orientations and classes to evaluate/screen applicants; recruits and conducts training classes and orientations for volunteers.</li>
<li>Provides information to public on eligibility requirements and available services for assigned area.</li>

1) A minimum of a bachelor&rsquo;s degree in the human services field, including Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Counseling and Guidance, Counselor Education, Human Services, Sociology, Family and Child Development, Aging Studies, Gerontology, Criminal Justice with a minor in one of the above studies, or other related degrees determined by the Department of Human Resources based on the similarity of the curriculum and course content.

2) A minimum of a bachelor&rsquo;s degree in any field accompanied by a minimum of two years of appropriate and related, full-time equivalent experience in a human services related area. To be considered for promotion, persons currently employed in the Family Services Specialist job series by a local department prior to January 1, 1999, who do not meet the qualifications outlined in either (1) or (2) above, must possess four years of appropriate and related experience in a human services area and must have successfully completed all available competency-based training related to the promotional area.
