Three (3) years' experience as a Public Safety Dispatcher preferred.</li><li>
Must not have received any formal disciplinary action during previous year.</li><li>
Must possess and maintain state and local certifications (i.e., CPR, EMD, and VCIN).</li><li>
The incumbent will be required to successfully complete a Police Department background investigation to include a polygraph examination and pre-employment screening for controlled substances.</li><li>
Must possess a valid driver&rsquo;s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton&rsquo;s criteria.</li></ul><p><b>
Additional Requirements</b></p><ul><li>
Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.</li><li>
Position may require working nights, weekends, holidays and extended shifts as required. Incumbents are required to work in situations of extreme stress and in emergency, life threatening situations.</li><li>
The incumbent may be considered &ldquo;essential personnel&rdquo; during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.</li><li>
Extensive knowledge of and proficiency in the use of personal computers; thorough knowledge of the city's geography; general knowledge of supervisory principles and practices; ability to speak clearly and distinctively over the radio; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and ability to give clear, concise feedback; ability to develop and maintain harmonious working relationships and work effectively with diverse groups; ability to plan, organize, and assign work to others to provide appropriate coverage and efficient service; ability to exercise sound judgment and make appropriate decisions.</li><li>
Must be able to maintain the ability to provide credible testimony in court, to the magistrate and in other situations where credibility will be of importance. A sustained finding of untruthfulness at the conclusion of an internal investigation may result in immediate termination.</li></ul></div></div></div><p></p>
