Job Description:
As an Estimator at Tutor Perini Civil, reporting to the Vice President of Estimating, you will have the opportunity to:
<ul><li>Develop estimates for bridge, highway, railway, airports, dams, tunnels and / or transit projects.
</li><li>Read, analyze, interpret and obtain a thorough understanding of contract proposals, drawings and specifications.
</li><li>Both self-perform and/or direct others in quantity take-off for both unit price and lump sum project bidding schedules, summarizing in an Excel spreadsheet format.
</li><li>Analyze various scopes of work and produce comprehensive unit price estimates by creating production crews and including specific equipment and materials in a project cost software program. HCSS is the current project cost estimating program utilized by Tutor Perini Corp.
</li></ul>Requirements:
<ul><li>Bachelor degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar from an accredited institution and 10+ years of relevant estimating and project management experience.
</li><li>5 or more years experience estimating for heavy civil projects
</li><li>Previous estimating experience on projects over $100M in value
</li><li>Good communication skills to effectively solicit and work with individual project owner&rsquo;s representatives, material suppliers and subcontractors in pre-bid estimate preparations and post-bid negotiations.
</li><li>Capable of effectively working within a cohesive Heavy Civil estimating staff to facilitate comprehensive cost proposals and conclude efforts during joint venture team reviews on major projects when applicable.
</li><li>Previous experience in alternative delivery methods such as design/build and CMAR is preferred.

As an Estimator-Quantities Takeoff at Tutor Perini, reporting to the VP Estimating/Lead Estimator , you will have the opportunity to:
<ul><li>Conduct a thorough review of the contract plans, specifications and other documents for the bid items assigned.
</li><li>Perform detailed quantity take-offs for the bid items assigned.
</li><li>Know general requirements and special conditions.
</li><li>Be aware of the proposal requirements and discuss with Lead Estimator.
</li><li>Identify unusual items, if any.
</li><li>File and update bid documents.
</li><li>Submit and log RFIs and RFCs.
</li><li>Solicit quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
</li><li>Prepare HCSS comparison sheets.
</li><li>Assist in preparing the bid schedule.
</li><li>Identify D/M/WBE requirements, prepare GFE using SmartBid.
</li><li>Develop clear write-ups and documentation required for SOQ / RFP type proposals.
</li><li>Assist in the preparation of documents for bid and proposal submission.
</li><li>For Joint Venture bids, compare and reconcile quantities.
</li><li>Able to communicate and work well with others (team player).
</li><li>Able to take direction well and not afraid to ask questions or for assistance.

REQUIREMENTS:
<ul><li>BS in Engineering or Construction Management or similar from an accredited institution is preferred.
</li><li>Minimum experience of 5 years in heavy civil construction working with a General Contractor to include 3 years in Estimating.
