Assists the public at the counter; answers telephone; researches and responds to written and verbal inquiries about court policies, procedures, case status, fines and costs due, and scheduling of court proceedings; resolves complaints; retrieves and interprets case history information; assists judges and attorneys as needed.</li><li>
Receives, receipts, records, verifies, monitors, and submits fines, fees, costs and other monies received by court; disburses restitution payments; enters payment information into system and posts to proper case file.</li><li>
Receives, dockets, and files warrants, transcripts, accusations, indictments, motions, orders, adoptions, notices, and appearances.</li><li>
Receives paperwork for passports, forward documents to Passport Services.</li><li>
Sends DUI and surrender of parental rights notices to the local newspaper.</li><li>
Prepares and processes sentences, bond forfeitures, sentence reviews, appeals, adoptions, orders, bench warrants, and revocations.</li><li>
Checks fines for probation officers.</li><li>
Completes prisoner histories; receives fines; picks up and secures cash bonds; secures warrants.</li><li>
Research criminal case information for various agencies; answers prisoner questions and mail; responds to phone inquiries and assists the general public.</li><li>
Maintains all court documents and ensures filing processes are consistent.</li><li>
Verifies all Superior Court Documents from previous day; makes corrections where needed.</li><li>
Prepares and drafts various reports as requested or required.</li><li>
Assists and responds to prisoners in filing of habeas corpus actions; bills inmates when filing civil cases; maintains records of payments and correspondence.</li><li>
Pulls cases and delivers to judges; pulls records, makes certified copies, and faxes documents.</li><li>
Processes notary public applications.</li><li>
May assist Chief Deputy with operation of the financial division of superior, state &amp; juvenile court clerk&rsquo;s office to include receiving, verifying, accounting, and balancing fines, fees, and funds; preparing reports and disbursements for funds; preparing and maintaining office accounting records; balancing and reviewing financial reports; coordinating and performing daily verification and audit of all funds received by office; preparing daily and weekly deposits; entering and monitoring debit and credit entries in ledgers; and assisting in monitoring account activity and evaluating relevant statutory and regulatory changes.</li><li>

Assistant Clerks process matters of original jurisdiction before the Clerk and hear cases on behalf of the Clerk in matters where the Clerk has judicial authority such as Foreclosures, Guardianship, Adoptions, Motor Vehicle Liens, Name Changes, Legitimization, and matters concerning Real Property and Estates in accordance with North Carolina statutes.

As a Deputy Court Clerk, you spend your day responding to customers regarding legal options to satisfy cases, including fines, trials or hearings, driver's safety, deferred dispositions, warrants, extensions, and posting of bonds. Your work typically involves updating case files in the Court's case management system as contact is made with customers, judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, witnesses and others. Prepare and processes traffic and parking citations filed by the Edinburg Police Department and other agencies. Your job is essential to the city, you monitor cases for compliance, process cases in accordance with legal requirements, and prepare documentation for the judge and prosecutor. </b></p><p>The principal purpose of the Deputy Court Clerk IV is to review all incoming customers' requests, accepting payments and accurately applying transactions, completing deposits, processing mailed-in payments, processing correspondence by mail and email, responding to customer inquiries, directing customers to courtrooms, setting cases for court, monitor compliance, and perform collections services by sending delinquent notices and contacting customers by phone. Court Clerk IV's also review, update, and maintain court dockets, mail hearing notifications to citizens, attorneys, and witnesses, issue subpoenas as instructed by prosecutors, and provide case resolution for citizens that are wither in compliance or non-compliant with judicial orders in an efficient and effective manner, and to provide administrative support to the Judiciary.

</b></p><ul><li>Provide case resolution for citizens at the lobby windows following court procedures and maintaining compliance with the law, in an efficient, effective, and professional manner, including but not limited to processing pleas, processing requests for deferred disposition and driving safety course, and accepting proof of compliance
</li></ul><ul><li>Collects fines and generates receipts, balances, and prepares deposits; generates reports; provides general information about policies and procedures; research requested information
</li></ul><ul><li>Collects monies off-site from Community Court and Juvenile Off-Site Court when needed

</li></ul><ul><li>Works as a Judge's clerk in the Courtroom, reviewing and updating cases for defendants who have appeared for Court and have been issued orders from the Judge.

</li></ul><ul><li>Creates evidence lists and maintains storage of all evidence submitted during trials

</li></ul><ul><li>Submits appropriate documentation to DPS for all Family Violence offenses after an appearance
</li></ul><ul><li>Provides case resolution for citizens who contact the court through the Municipal Court email (i.e., processing pleas, requests for deferred disposition or driving safety courses, accepting proof of compliance, payment plan requests, Motion requests, and Defense Attorney communication)
</li></ul><ul><li>Monitors and tracks collection plans and contacts delinquent customers and prepares and mails reminder notices.
</li></ul><ul><li>Assists customers ordered by the Judge to perform community service by providing a location and/or list of community non-profit organizations
</li></ul><ul><li>Accurately enters data into court case management software and scans all documentation to the corresponding case and updates notes appropriately
</li></ul><ul><li>Assists Attorneys and defendants with motions for new trials and appeals
</li></ul><ul><li>Collects fees and all appropriate documentation
</li></ul><ul><li>Routes to Judicial or Administrative queues
</li></ul><ul><li>Maintains customer records in the courts database system by entering fines, court costs, and other fees as determined by Municipal Court Presiding Judge
