Position Summary:
The DV Client Advocate is responsible for individual services, including case management, advocacy, and crisis-counseling as well as presenting educational programs to the community. The DV Client Advocate reports directly to the Outreach Program Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:
<ul><li>
Provide crisis-intervention and counseling to individuals and family members and significant others affected by sexual violence.
</li><li>Accompany individuals through procedures at area hospitals, police departments, prosecutor's office and court. Provide victims with case-related medical and legal information.</li><li>
Present educational programs in schools, community and church groups, and other professional organizations. Assist with additional outreach efforts and attend scheduled events.</li><li>
Provide case management assisting with resources, provide appropriate referrals, safety planning and completing monthly surveys.
</li><li>Coordinate and facilitate support group services for individuals affected by domestic violence.</li><li>
Respond to 24-hour hotline, accompany individuals through procedures at area hospitals, police departments, prosecutor's office and court. Provide individuals with case-related medical and legal information.</li><li>

Complete monthly and quarterly statistics and reports.</li><li>
Participate in community collaboration meetings, SERV Prevention Coalition and monthly NJCDEV meetings.

Assist with office procedures pertinent to the operations of the program.</li></ul>

Requirements:
<ul><li>
The DV Client Advocate must successfully complete 60-hour New Jersey State Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate and Domestic Violence Response Team training provided by Services Empowering Rights of Victims (SERV).
</li><li>Advocates have experience working with people, especially on a one-to-one basis, and demonstrated sensitivity toward the needs of individuals affected by domestic violence. Effective verbal and written communication skills and public speaking is required.
</li><li>A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice or Human Services is preferred. Work experience may substitute for education on a year-to-year basis.</li><li>
Current driver's license with a driving record of at least three years</li><li>

Position: Court AdvocateScope: To provide trauma-informed advocacy, support, and court accompaniment services to survivors of domestic violence navigating the legal system in Hampton, VA and/or Newport News, VA. This position assists survivors with protective orders, court processes, safety planning, referrals, and coordination with community partners while promoting survivor autonomy, safety, and empowerment. The Court Advocate serves as a liaison between survivors and court-related systems, including law enforcement, prosecutors, victim witness programs, and legal service providers. In addition to courthouse advocacy, this role participates in outreach, prevention education, and community engagement efforts related to domestic violence awareness and law enforcement collaboration.Essential functions: Essential functions may include but are not limited to the functions listed below.Court Advocacy &amp; CAMBA operates 6 single adult shelters and 6 family shelters and one drop in center. Each shelter offers clients a supportive, structured therapeutic, safe, and drug-free facility. Homeless (often mentally-ill and substance-abusing) men and women are provided with comprehensive services to stabilize their condition in order to successfully transition into to permanent and/or supported housing.
CAMBA&rsquo;s Atlantic House Men&rsquo;s Shelter is a 200 bed men&rsquo;s MICA shelter located in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. The majority of these clients are dually diagnosed with mental illness and substance abuse.

<div>Program Overview:
HomeBase provides case management and essential services to at-risk individuals and families to prevent homelessness. Individuals and families receive services that will help overcome problems with public benefits, housing, education, health care and other issues that could impede their ability to maintain stable households.
Position Overview:
The Case Manager, under general supervision, is expected to: (1) aid individuals and/or families requiring social service assistance; (2) conduct client interviews and evaluations to assess needs and develop service plans, including short-term and long-term client goals; and (3) assist clients in identifying and locating community resources.<ul><li>
Prescreen clients for eligibility and schedule intake appointments.</li><li>
Review all documentation establishing clients' eligibility, conduct initial intake or assessment of clients and clients' families, and conduct periodic reassessments.</li><li>

 Be their advocate facilitating bi-weekly family meetings and weekly check-ins with heads of household to ensure each family&rsquo;s needs are heard and met.

 Support children&rsquo;s well-being through weekly observations that help track progress and ensure their emotional and physical safety.

 <li>
 Keep things organized and accountable by ensuring Client First data is always accurate and up to date. Your documentation helps us track success and tell our story through reports and statistics.
 </li>
 <li>
 Make healing possible by leading weekly process groups and/or events using a variety of psychotherapy approaches (e.g. cognitive-behavioral, psycho-educational, client centered) and based on systems theory and domestic violence research.
 </li>
 <li>
 Be ready for anything respond appropriately to emergency situations utilizing de-escalation and conflict resolution skills. Provide court advocacy and court testimony as needed.
 </li>
 <li>
 Stay connected, you&rsquo;ll work closely with other community organizations and agencies building referral relationships to help clients access broader services.
 </li>
 <li>
 Keep learning you&rsquo;ll stay current on best practices in domestic violence, crisis theory and community resources, including assessments of danger, and resources of direct solution through regular training and workshops.
 </li>
 <li>
 Be a team player, you&rsquo;ll join weekly case staffing&rsquo;s, share insight, collaborate with fellow experts, and train, supervision and support volunteers and interns as assigned.

 This role is ideal for someone who is passionate, adaptable, and committed to helping families break the cycle of violence.
 
 Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus but not required.
 
 
 You will work an assigned schedule with some flexibility, and you may be required to provide support during other hours.
