Qualifications:

Specific Certification related to position or Associates Degree/Technical Degree in related field</li><li>
3-5 years of prior experience</li><li>

Compensation Range: $18 - $28.80 per hour

Under general supervision, the Clinical Laboratory Coordinator performs critical tasks related to the Materials/Slide Room area of Pathology. Routine tasks include storing and archiving pathology materials, filling requests for materials internally and from external providers and facilities, and communicating material retention, storage, and release protocols with department members and other departments/facilities.

<div>Job Summary: Laboratory aides assist the Director by performing venipuncture on inpatients and outpatients, processing send-over specimens and general cleaning of the lab. They also perform a variety of other tasks as needed in medical or clinical settings.

Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities: Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Must have basic computer skills. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, and procedure manuals. Exceptional interpersonal skills including cheerfully greeting customers (out-patients) and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees. Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, able to work under pressure, and able to multi-task. Proper use of phone etiquette is necessary. Must be able to present oneself positively with professionalism demonstrated thru written and verbal word. Skills for problem solving either individually or as part of a team. Job Summary and Qualifications
The Clinical Lab Assistant works under the supervision of the Lab Director and the lab supervisors. He/she processes specimens for the section, performs routine laboratory tests for diagnosis and treatment of disease, sets up instruments and performs basic equipment maintenance. Assists with ensuring all regulatory lab standards are met through following policies and procedures of the Hospital and accrediting regulatory agencies.
 What you will do in this role:<ul><li>
Processes specimens for the section; prepares blood smears and body fluid slides, centrifuges specimens, streaks microbiology plates, prepares specimens for transport to reference labs.</li><li>
Understands laboratory methods, demonstrates knowledge of pathological processes with correlation of disease states and test results. Independently performs specimen processing and testing to include moderate complexity testing.</li><li>
Sets up instruments and performs basic equipment maintenance.</li><li>
Performs basic quality control as instructed, collects quality assurance data. Performs clerical duties such as answering telephones, communicating verified test results by phone, typing procedures, performing data entry/retrieval as may be required, filing paperwork and slides, faxing documents, and assisting with inventory of supplies.</li><li>
May perform phlebotomy, point-of-care and waived testing as designated.</li><li>
Performs work in accordance with laboratory regulatory standards.</li></ul>
What qualifications you will need:<ul><li>
Education: High School graduate or GED equivalent from an accredited program.</li><li>
Phlebotomy certification preferred.
Graduate of Phlebotomy Course required; additional 6 months experience preferred. If phlebotomy program has not been completed, then must have one-year experience in a medical laboratory required or college course work in biological/chemical sciences. Six months computer keyboarding or equivalent preferred.</li></ul>
