The UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine &amp; Pathology (DLMP) in Seattle, WA has a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 1 with the Immunology Team at the University of Washington Medical Center &ndash; Montlake.
CLT 1s are the critical first line in the Immunology lab. They accession and process all the specimens, answer phone calls, keep track of pending monitors, and review orders in the Laboratory Information System and Electronic Health Record.

</li></ul>What you&rsquo;ll contribute:
<ul><li>Understand, calibrate, operate, troubleshoot and perform routine and emergency maintenance of laboratory instruments listed below and related equipment, as appropriate: pH meter, balances, centrifuges, pipette,
</li><li>Make and organize reagents.Label reagents according to protocol.
</li><li>Maintain chemical inventory and SDS records. Prepare containers for chemical waste, monitor the waste volume, and arrange for disposal.
</li><li>Is responsible for ordering of supplies, renewing standing orders and service contracts, and monitoring of non-reagent supply inventory. Receives and stores supplies as they arrive.Tracks down overdue shipments. Communicate with inventory techs about the status of orders.
</li><li>Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures.Maintain freezers, refrigerators, waterbaths, and incubators as needed.
</li><li>Monitor compressed gas cylinders, replacing as needed.
</li><li>Prepare and process samples for transport and/or testing.
</li><li>Exhibits working knowledge of laboratory computer systems including, but not limited to the laboratory information system (LIS), PurchasePath, MediaLab, Excel, and Word.
</li><li>Perform work accurately, precisely and meet completion deadlines through efficient workload organization.Work independently and handle heavy workloads calmly and efficiently.
</li><li>Locate missing samples, resolve ordering problems/questions, credit testing as instructed.Locate samples needed by other sections or for research testing.
</li><li>Helps maintain sample storage.
</li><li>Answers the telephone and retrieving recording telephone messages.Respond to inquiries concerning patient lab values, reference ranges, specimen requirements, procedures, time required for tests.
</li><li>Create, maintain, and organize records that are thorough, accurate and legible.
</li><li>Support the Prenatal Risk Screening program by contacting sending locations for missing information, reminders, test cancelations, notification of abnormal results and organizing paperwork.
</li><li>Login proficiency testing samples and store them after testing is completed.
</li><li>Store, archive and retrieve laboratory records.Prepare working notebooks for assays and QC records.
</li><li>May perform phlebotomy.
</li><li>Member of the division Safety Team and supports the work of the division Safety Representative.
</li><li>Perform data processing and clerical tasks as required.
</li><li>Perform the work of a clinical Laboratory Assistant.
</li><li>Perform related duties as required.
</li></ul>What you&rsquo;ll need:
<ul><li>High school graduation or equivalent AND one (1) year of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience.
</li></ul>OR
<ul><li>Completion of a laboratory assistant course approved by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
</li></ul>Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

<div>Overview:

The Clinical Lab Technician/Technologist will perform moderate and high complexity testing and result analysis for clinical laboratory departments including chemistry, immunoassay, infectious disease, hematology, urinalysis, and blood bank subdisciplines. Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Accurately perform, evaluate, interpret, and report results for clinical laboratory testing disciplines including chemistry, immunoassay, infectious diseases, hematology, urinalysis, and blood bank.
</li><li>Follow all laboratory procedures to maintain safety, quality, and compliance.
</li><li>Correctly identify and label patient specimens.
</li><li>Correlates and interprets laboratory data based on clinical knowledge.
</li><li>Execute required maintenance on all laboratory instrumentation.
</li><li>Performs simple to complex testing utilizing established departmental protocols.</li><li>
Reads, understands, and adheres to all the SOPs, policies, and protocols.</li><li>
Reports results via the Laboratory Information System (LIS).</li><li>
Prepares clinical specimens for testing and identifies specimen related problems.</li><li>
Establishes and performs proper quality control measures (i.e. temperature monitoring, instrument maintenance, reagent/specimen preparation, etc.) in accordance with laboratory operating standards.
</li><li>Documents daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly quality control (e.g. equipment/instrument maintenance, calibrations, certifications) to support quality assurance initiatives.
</li><li>Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance, reporting of test results, or instrument functions. Troubleshoots and/or reports findings to supervisor, manager, or director.
</li><li>Documents all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specification.</li><li>
Assists the supervisor in ensuring an efficient workflow operation and reports any delays and/or problems.
</li><li>Monitors TAT and workflow processes.
</li><li>Assists in preparation of validation documentation of new tests and procedures as assigned.
</li><li>Maintain records that demonstrate that PT samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples</li><li>
Cleans and maintains lab equipment, instrumentation, and workspace.
</li></ul>Qualifications:
<ul><li>Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in Clinical Laboratory Sciences/Medical Technology or related, required.
</li><li>Bachelor's degree (B. S.) or equivalent from four-year college or technical school in Clinical Laboratory Sciences/Medical Technology or related, preferred.</li><li>
Minimum 1 year of testing experience in the field of clinical laboratory testing (chemistry, immunoassay, hematology, urinalysis, and blood bank), required.</li><li>
Certification as a Medical Technician, Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) from a recognized certifying agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT), preferred.<ul><li>

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Lab Technologist- to join our Laboratory Services Team. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to providing accurate, high-quality laboratory testing and supporting exceptional patient care.
The Medical Laboratory Technician precisely and accurately performs and results laboratory procedures using
 
established quality assurance protocols. The position assists in the collection of laboratory specimens, performs
 
instrument maintenance and record keeping and acts as a resource person for issues of laboratory services.
Required Educational Degree: Associate's Degree
 
Major/Area of Concentration: Medical Laboratory Technology
 
Preferred Education: Medical Laboratory Technology, or equivalent laboratory
 
training/experience or provisions meeting the requirements defined in the
 
CLIA Regulations 42CFR493.1489
 
Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society of Clinical
 
Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent certification must be in place or obtained
 
within 6 months of hire.
 
Required Experience: Clinical experience in a clinical laboratory as part of associate's degree.

Certification as one of the following according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. Upon Hire Required
</li><li>MLT - Medical Technician - Certified from ASCP or</li>
<li>Licensed Clinical Lab Technologist Certification as an AMT (American Medical Technologists) or</li>
<li>ASCP - American Society of Clinical Pathologist clinical laboratory technician by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) or</li>
<li>A person who recently moved to the state of Georgia or who has recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as a technologist or technician for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to complete an approved qualifying examination successfully. AAB provisional certification not accepted within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
