Malcolm X College (MXC) is leading the charge with a focus on Health Sciences while maintaining a positive commitment to exceptional instruction. Located near the Illinois Medical District, MXC is home to a state-of-the-art School of Health Sciences, featuring a virtual hospital, which also houses the City Colleges of Chicago School of Nursing. The School of Nursing offers an associate&rsquo;s degree (AAS) in Nursing, a 69 credit hour program that prepares graduates for the NCLEX-RN licensure exam; and a Practical Nursing Advance Certificate Program, a 3-semester, 49 credit hour program that prepares graduates for the NCLEX-PN licensure exam.</p>
<p><b>
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:</b> Reporting to an assigned administrator, a Clinical Coordinator - Nursing is responsible for coordinating the clinical placement of nursing students at various clinical sites that provide students with supervised clinical learning experiences based on their learning needs. The Clinical Coordinator develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with clinical affiliates including hospitals, clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and other agencies, ensuring that students&rsquo; clinical experiences meet the educational requirements of the nursing curriculum. Performs related duties as required.</p>
<p>
This role is expected to travel to clinical sites such as a partner hospital or long-term care facility.</p>
<p><b>
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Functions as a liaison between clinical affiliates, nursing faculty, and nursing program administrators to ensure a high level of quality in students&rsquo; learning experience during the clinical education component of the curriculum.</li>
<li>Works collaboratively with nursing faculty and clinical site administrators to provide clinical rotations that meet students&rsquo; learning objectives.</li>
<li>Maintains student health records; reviews required health and safety documents, including vaccination and drug screening records, to ensure they are current and in compliance with the nursing program and clinical agency requirements.</li>
<li>Facilitates and problem-solves clinical placement for students to receive supervised clinical learning experiences in areas including medical-surgical, mental health, maternal-child, pediatrics, and gerontology nursing.</li>
<li>Coordinates the gathering of agency-specific documentation (i.e. background checks, Healthcare BLS certification) necessary for student placement at clinical agency sites.</li>
<li>Provides faculty with required site-specific orientation materials and schedules faculty and/or student orientation.</li>
<li>Ensures students complete clinical orientation requirements and attend clinical agency-specific orientation prior to all clinical rotations.</li>
<li>Serves as a liaison between the clinical agency and CCC&rsquo;s School of Nursing (CCCSON) to ensure orientation requirements are met.</li>
<li>Maintains records of clinical placement and students' completion of clinical requirements and compliance with the program&rsquo;s curriculum requirements.</li>
<li>Conducts clinical site visits to assess the appropriateness of clinical activities and students&rsquo; clinical practice experiences.</li>
<li>Assists the medical director in performing annual clinical site evaluations of clinical affiliates as part of the contract/ affiliation agreement renewal process.</li>
<li>Collects data and prepares reports on clinical sites for inclusion in accreditation, grants, and related reports.</li>
<li>Strictly adheres to HIPPA and FERPA regulations.</li>
<li>Performs administrative duties as assigned in support of the Nursing Department.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>QUALIFICATIONS:</b></p>

<li>An Advanced certificate in practical nursing or an Associate&rsquo;s degree in Nursing or higher from an accredited college or university.</li>
<li>A state of Illinois licensed practical nurse (LPN) or registered nurse (RN) with an unencumbered license.</li>
<li>Five years of work experience in clinical nursing.</li>
<li>Must be able to work varied hours which may include evenings and/or weekends.</li>

The Nursing Clinical Coordinator supports clinical education for students across nursing programs with a primary focus on graduate nursing. This position works closely with students beginning in their first semester to guide the clinical placement process, ensure completion of clinical requirements and support timely progression through the program.<br>

The Clinical Coordinator collaborates with faculty, program leadership, clinical partners and university offices to manage clinical placements, onboarding and compliance processes, and clinical affiliation documentation. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate clinical data, including entry and monitoring of student, preceptor, and placement information in the Typhon clinical tracking system, and to support reporting, accreditation and continuous program improvement.</p>
<p><b>Duties/Responsibilities</b></p>
Support all graduate nursing students from their first semester through program completion by guiding them through the clinical placement process, including timelines, site requirements, expectations, and issue resolution.<br>

</li>Coordinate and monitor clinical placements to ensure students meet required clinical hours, stay on track academically, and have a clear point of contact for placement questions and documentation needs.<br>

</li>Track and monitor student clinical requirements on an ongoing basis, including immunizations, licensure, certifications, background checks, and facility-specific training.<br>

</li>Monitor clinical application and onboarding deadlines and proactively communicate submission requirements to students.<br>
