Position Summary:</b></p><p>
Performs duties of a clinical and clerical nature. Maintains records and applies knowledge and skills to run a full functioning office for one or more Providers in Clinic. Assists professional staff by performing routine duties in caring for patients.</p><p><b>

High School Diploma or equivalent.</p><p><b>
Experience:</b></p><p>
Knowledge of medical terminology, ability to communicate and excellent customer service skills a must. Must be dependable, professional, flexible and able to multi‐task.</p><p><b>
Essential Functions:</b></p><ul><li>
Interviews patient to obtain medical history.</li><li>
Determines vital signs, (weight, temperature, blood pressure, etc) and documents in the patient&rsquo;s medical record.</li><li>
Assists provider during exam and treatment.</li><li>
Directs patient to examination room and prepares patient for examination and treatment.</li><li>
Performs liaison duties between patients, Providers, hospital staff, etc.</li><li>
Process ancillary reports and all other patient results to the provider for review and assists with patient communication.</li><li>
Responsible for greeting patients and updating various pertinent information into the patient&rsquo;s medical record.</li><li>
Routes patient after exam to proper area for visit completion.</li><li>
May be required to do phlebotomy.</li><li>
May perform high level disinfection, based on departmental equipment</li></ul><p><b>
Other Duties:</b></p><ul><li>
Answers telephones and schedules patient appointments.</li><li>
Takes messages of a medical nature (requests for prescription refills, test results, etc).</li><li>
Performs other clerical functions as necessary.</li><li>
Exhibits good telephone etiquette.</li><li>
Quotes patient self‐pay balances at time of scheduling.</li><li>
Informs patients of their financial obligations.</li><li>
Directs patients to the patient representative for assistance with their account.</li><li>
Applies principles of disinfection/sterilization/disease transmission/universal precautions as per clinic and manufacturer guidelines.</li><li>
Assists in maintaining appropriate level of supplies.</li><li>
Attends and participates in Department meetings, along with contributing to department/office goals.</li><li>
Become familiar with ICD‐9 and CPT coding.</li><li>
Cleans, stocks, and prepares exam rooms.</li><li>
Coordinate patient appointments for X‐ray, CT scans, Physical Therapy, etc. as ordered by the providers.</li><li>
Assists with obtaining and processing referral and pre‐certification requirements.</li><li>
Maintains confidentiality, respect and consideration of patients and others.</li><li>
Applies Guthrie values (patient centeredness, teamwork, excellence) when performing daily tasks.</li><li>
Maintains equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and clinic policies and procedures.</li><li>

<li>Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Prefer Medical Assistant, or STNA with experience. Previous hospital and clerical experience with excellent computer skills is preferred with at least 1 year experience in pertinent clinical area.</li>
<li>CPR/BLS Health Care Provider is required within 30 days of employment if not previously obtained.</li>
<li>Medical Terminology course is preferred.</li>
