Your mission as Site Reliability Engineer:<ul><li>
Operate and maintain mission-critical sovereign cloud services with availability targets of 99.99% and above.</li><li>
Monitor service health, reliability, scalability, latency, and performance using Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs).</li><li>
Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production incidents across large-scale distributed cloud environments.</li><li>
Participate in a structured 24/7 on-call rotation (approximately one week every six weeks) to ensure continuous service availability.</li><li>
Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineers, Cloud Infrastructure Specialists, and Product Experts across international teams to mitigate incidents and drive long-term solutions.</li><li>
Build a deep understanding of Google's cloud technologies and distributed systems through an intensive training program covering technologies such as Borg, Colossus, Spanner, and other core GCP components.</li><li>
Drive operational excellence by creating and maintaining technical documentation, standardizing incident response procedures, and continuously improving operational playbooks.</li><li>
Lead and contribute to post-incident reviews, root cause analyses, and the implementation of preventive measures to improve platform reliability.</li><li>
Identify opportunities for automation and contribute to improving operational efficiency, scalability, compliance, and service reliability.</li><li>
Support the operation of highly secure cloud environments designed to meet stringent regulatory and sovereignty requirements.</li></ul>

 A day in the life
 
 
 You&rsquo;ll spend a majority of your time operating and improving one of the largest software systems. Over the course of a week, you will review the operational health of the services in your team&rsquo;s care, and as soon as you figure out why there was an anomaly, you write up an actionable bug report. As a responsible engineer, you&rsquo;ve learned never to make changes to production systems without a plan, so you reviewed then executed changes following a change management process to one of the production systems in your care. Later in the week, you help to resolve your team&rsquo;s backlog of operational issues. You round off the week by writing a cool script that you shared with your team which helps get to root cause faster of a hard problem that you diagnosed earlier.
 
 
 You will be required to occasionally participate in an &ldquo;on-call&rdquo; rotations to resolve incidents occurring out-of-hours.

Job Description 
This role can be based in either Berlin or Munich.
Scalable Capital was built in the cloud from day one. Our services leverage a variety of serverless technologies, including Fargate and Lambda. We additionally use a multi account strategy for logical separation of workloads.
The Network Engineering team is part of the Core Tribe, which manages the cloud platform that underpins Scalable's entire infrastructure. The team delivers all core network services at scale, leveraging the latest cloud-native technologies and maintaining highly available connections to external partners. In addition, the Network Engineering team designs and maintains reusable infrastructure components and provides support to development teams. Together, these efforts provide a strong foundation for building innovative financial services.
As part of the Network Engineering team:<ul><li>
You will design, maintain, and operate multiple cloud networks on AWS, providing a secure and highly available environment for our internal development teams</li><li>
You will be responsible for improving Scalable's cloud infrastructure and automation using AWS, Terraform, and Python</li><li>
You will ensure high-availability connectivity for our most critical applications and partner integrations</li><li>
You will support, guide and empower our engineering teams to further strengthen our DevOps culture</li></ul> 

Qualifications 
<ul><li>
Experience with core AWS networking services, such as: VPC, ELB, PrivateLink, Route 53 is a must</li><li>
Proficient with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform</li><li>
Proficient in at least one general-purpose programming language</li><li>
Nice to have: Experience with broader AWS services, network management, and network troubleshooting</li><li>
A passion for automating and improving processes while keeping security and reliability in mind</li><li>
A degree in a relevant field of study (e.g. computer science, engineering, sciences) or work experience in a role that typically requires a university degree</li><li>
